Description
Alright, with thanks to all of you who have given me suggestions and explanations for proceeding with this digital stuff, I post the next WIP of "Prisoners of Xelotlan" (renamed from "Slaves on the Amazon" renamed from "Amazon Slaves").Basically, I have been using the dodge/burn tool for about six hours on this one, and I think I'm starting to get the hang of it. Hopefully I'll have this and a few others finished and ready for final submission to the *monstersandmaidens contest which ends on Friday.
Enjoy!

A truly spectacular view! I find the red-head in the anaconda coils to be quite an enjoyable sight!

That is so awesome!! You're better at this than I am already! But then, you were always better with shading the body (traditional or otherwise) than me.

I'm always impressed by how well you handle light on a bazillion differently-placed figures at the same time. Wow. ^_^
Hey look, the nice gentlemen are going to help our distressed damsels out of their troubles...those darned itchy bikinis have gotta go!

Sadly, I was hoping to keep this short series of images lacking the Mature Content tag, so the bikinis stay. However, I have recently discovered how easy it would be to go into Photoshop and edit out the bikinis altogether on all images. Needless to say, the mischievous little perverted boy inside me is really prodding me to spend an hour in CS2 and see what happens...
Thank you so much for the compliment! You flatter me.

Your shading technique is improving very fast
Although the mens skin look quite nice with this smooth shading i would consider to roughen it up somewhat in the plants and especially the tree bark. I would sugest using something like natural brushes and tips combined with a scattering, texture or noise shape. And maybe drawing the texture on a different layer and setting it to Hard Light or Soft Light or something similar can help to keep the base colour and the shadings and just add some structure.

Thanks for the compliment and the suggestion! The suggestion is waaay beyond me right now, actually, although I hope to eventually be able to address such things. I'm afraid that the textures for the moment will all have to be applied with the same brush and dodge/burn approach. When I've done several drawings from beginning to "ending at that point," I'll see if I can make use of those tools.

Describing such procedures always sounds much more complicated then actually done.
But with such a steeply learning curve shown by you so far i am sure you will master all that trivias in no seconds

Coming on nicely. Next they taske them to their evil chief... and it's Sean Connery the Medicine Man! Obscure reference, forgettable film. Ignore me. Admire your productiveness... what is it, three visual stories you have on the go?

Thanks! Four, actually, counting The Puzzle Box. Of course, the Collective Fables advance themselves without me doing it all, so they count as one-half each (so, "Three, Sir!" is correct). They're very nice that way, and provide me with a chance to relax and not feel at all "under pressure" as it were... I actually liked the Medicine Man--not enough to watch it more than once or buy it on DVD, but I liked it.

i was bout to color in, and i have no idea what to put back there, the big green space between the trees. And theres the answer. Anyway i think you did a fantastic job. i think you should do the shadow on the front of the picture as well. Overall nice job

Dayum! Nice work on coloring and shading the men; you've really been working hard at picking this up! The only problem I can see--and yeah, it's pretty serious--is that the women still have clothes on. Other than that, no mistakes here.
Seriously, it's amazing to me to see how quickly a person can pick up using digital tools to create art, even when they've never used them before. Hmm, guess I should get back to work on that myself...

Thanks, my friend! I'm glad you think it's turning out well. I think I have about seven hours left on this one, and then I'll try and put 2-3 other pages together for the contest (including some of those that I already have WIPs on). That means it's going to be a week of little sleep for me, I guess...
