The listener pauses in her observation of the women, her mind soaring upwards and backwards to the secret meeting of the early morning. Luther had been waiting, as promised, in the shadow of the great statue, near the opening of the so-called Tomb of Lords. He was one of the few people in all of Dernhem who knew of her totemic magic and the beastly aspects she assumed, but even trusting him as she did, it still required much discipline on the listener’s part to approach him openly when instincts told her to flee.
The great statue above the dome of the buried tomb was surrounded by gardens that the city laws kept vacant, and so it was easy for her to approach in the more stealthy of her forms without alarming the city folk. But she couldn’t help wonder how he was able to slip in and through the area unseen. Perhaps some day she would ask him of it, but not until her work here was done and she was returned back to her home and far away from Dernhem’s walls and crowds.
Near the unlit braziers at the tomb’s gated entrance he had waited, watching her descent, the wings of her hair-feathering spread wide to catch the crisp air until her feet could light upon the paving stones.**********************************************************
Deirdre was drawn using the reference photography provided me by Viator-Defessus . I believe the stock model in question has already been identified, but she is unnamed in the gallery in question. So, for now, we'll call her "The Model." And we will thank her and her photographer for the wonderful imagery they gave me to work with.
Luther was drawn using the reference imagery provided me by Mistersneaky , who does a very good job giving me a grim frown to draw. Thanks, Sneaky!
Enjoy!
Note: Twisted Plot and Demon's Due are a work of fantasy and fiction. The artist/creator in no way condones this kind of treatment toward any woman or man, by living person, gremlin, plant, assassin, ratman, viscous fluid, programmed device, animated home furnishings, or otherworldly spiritual beings. Furthermore, the artist opposes the marginalizing and restriction of women in general by any institution, political and/or religious, including those which have individual women amongst their membership touting/promoting their own happiness within that institution as evidence that ALL women should feel the same way. This includes the religion I was raised in and which I have utterly discarded from my life over this and other issues.

Fantastic composition, I love the perspective and the shadow - nice touch. I have to say that I am REALLY looking forward to your drawing Deirdre, more than ever. You seem to have her expressions perfectly so far, or you have great reference materials, or mostly likely both. thank you for sharing this.

Thank you! I'm glad you approve. The next few images in this scene are proving to be quite fun indeed--Deirdre's stock model and otters are both cute, so merging them is enjoyable.

Ah hah! The Great Scribbler has introduced a NEW CHARACTER to Dernhem, a tiny dwarf hobbit (and Luther's twin half-brother) named Alphonso!
It turns out Luther's horse can't talk. Luther's tiny sibling is a skilled ventriloquist and now and then hides in Luther's saddlebag and throws his voice, just to mess with his big brother.
Also, is that a gremlin costume carefully hidden away in the Fair Harvest cellar? You mean that all this time Alphonso has been undercover, disguised as a gremlin? Is he really Gus?
And what about Naomi?

That devilish top-down perspective gets me. I'll play around with it and see if Alphonso can go find another story to ventriloquismatize in...

Friends don't let friends ventriloquismatize.
By the way, are we going to see more (meaning all) of Dierdre's otter form? She sure is purty.

How does Luther always slip around the way he does? It's awfully stealthy of him. That might earn him a nickname among the Dernhem who's-who. Sir Stealthy, or Captain Clandestine, or Monsieur Mendacious...hmm, none of those are sounding quite right. I wonder what would be a better fit...

I see where you're going with this. Something like "Señor Slippery" or "Lord Lurksalot" or "Signore Skulksaround" seems to be in order. I'll keep thinking about it and see if I can come up with anything...
