I love Megaman and Sonic. So much. Also I'm so glad that my phone doesn't always take crappy pictures.Anyway, I have to admit when I RP Copy Megaman I always play him as a pansexual robot who honestly has a thing for blue hedgehogs apparently. Metal Sonic is just a killing machine and honestly doesn't understand why his counterpart acts weird around him.

Honestly...I don't see Copy as Metal's counterpart...Bass seems to fit the bill better.

I always saw Shadow as Bass' counterpart. But then again I can see where Metal and him are similar as well. I think Bass is just one of those characters that can end up with two counterparts. I consider Roll to be both Cream and Amy's counterpart, just like I consider Tails to be Rush and Dr. Light's counterpart.

Well, just think about it. Both Bass and Metal Sonic were created for the sole purpose of destroying their blue counterparts. They're both to the point where this order has turned into a form of obsession (Although Metal's is clearly more severe).

Bass doesn't want to destroy Megaman as much as he just wants to beat him and prove he's the best and strongest robot ever.
But I think Two Evil Scientists have also influenced what I think of Bass, Shadow, Metal, and Copy. I'm fine with having them all be related to each other and sharing counterparts. It doesn't bother me much. I also think it depends on how you play a character that probably influences who would match who more.
Also it depends on the relationship of the counterparts? Like I've RPed Shadow and Bass being buddies while I can't imagine Metal and Bass getting along for very long. Actually I can see them ripping each other apart after awhile. I guess when I think counterparts I think along the lines of buddies and best friends. Although Metal probably isn't buddies with Copy, but Copy doesn't like to leave people alone.

Well when I think counterpart, I look at the traits of the character. Not just color or role, but also personality, and what makes the character who they are. Like, most people see Knuckles as the counterpart of Protoman due to their red color scheme and being somewhat of loners. But that's not enough for me. I look deeper. One of Protoman's defining traits is that he treasures his identity so much, even to the point of refusing repairs that he believes would make him a different person. And you know who I think can best relate to this? Not Knuckles, because identity has never really been a real angle for the character. No, I'm thinking Shadow. Since his introduction, Shadow has struggled to maintain/regain his identity, even having a whole game dedicated to that very pursuit. After all that, Shadow would most certainly know how precious a gift a sense of self and identity is. Identity is a character angle that Shadow and Protoman share strongly. And hey, they also happen to both be loners with predominately red color schemes.

Yeah, I'm not afraid to admit I look at the buddies angle. Just because they have similar traits doesn't mean they'll get along. I know there's people that probably hate other people just for the fact they're very similar to themselves.
Although a lot of my old RPing days effect how I view relationships between Megaman and Sonic characters. Sonic actually was probably close with not only Megaman, but with Protoman and Rush as well. But he went to them for different reasons. Just like Shadow and Protoman might hang out and talk about their identity, but then can turn around and talk about other things with other characters.
I guess over all there's not really any strict counterparts for me. It also helps that although there are personalities for Megaman characters, in game there's not much to work with so I've created my own. Which is probably why I end up with not only Megaman and Sonic, but Vocaloid as well.
Er, Or maybe I'm just making crap up and just like to keep things simple at first and wait to see how the characters want to act around each other.

Counterparts across franchises is almost always left up to fan spectulations. Even in official crossovers Mario and Sonic Olympics, there's rarely ever any strict canon counterparting.
And counterparts should never always get along. Sometimes, you want to match characters up just to see who'd kill who.

Copy still flirted with everyone though. And totally wanted sloppy makeouts with Dark Sonic once.

...Uggghhh, I keep thinking about my headcanon for Bass' hair and it's just so funny because he keeps it a secret from everybody and in the old RP him and Shadow were roommates and even Shadow had no idea what his hair was like.
