Description
I just sat down this afternoon to warm up before clients work but got a little carried away. It's because of that fish - I just had to see it thruRelated content

i would see it as a kind of metal poseidon, like in an alternate reality where the greek gods aren't humanoid and more powerful!

interesting, I was seeing it more as a humble creature, lonely wanderer or something like that...
I've only recently bought God of War III and I am under influence so when you mention Greek Gods I see very much human looking dudes having their insided ripped out by Kratos...

how did you manage to get this color ?

sorry, I did not see this question before.
I hardly ever trust my first color choice so I tend to just play with various color balance adjustment layers, erasing bits where I see fits. I also use overlay mode on some layers and paint on those with textures brushes, again - erasing where I want to. It's a great start to get adjusted to coloring and, by seeing how far you can push those colors in the digital medium, learn to make more informed decisions later.
Works for me, at least

yes - abuse the digital medium any way you can until your RAM squeals... and don't get too attached to your pieces either. If you like parts of your image dearly but the overal is weak - tough, reuse the idea maybe but dump the rest.
Ask for harsh feedback in early stages so you don't end up frustrated like I do very often when I show my wife (not an artist bur great judge) a piece I've been "secretly" ploughing away at, thinking: "THIS IS IT! This makes my name!" and hear: "hmm, interesting"(bad sign) followed by "I am no expert at these things"...(game over)
Forgive my preaching - I am totally tired today after working on a challenge until early in the morning. I should not speak until I've had some sleep

Thanks alot for all your tips, it's very nice and helpful i used too much my digital tools like traditional ones, not using 75% of the potential of it.

hmm, I hope I did not confused things here. As much as I support taking advantage of the "tools" I am all for Hard Round when painting. You can only successfully "fake" stuff when it's backed up by good grounding in traditional concepts. Anatomy, values, perspective - all that needs the be in your head while playing a good game.
I am nowhere near there, so, don't take it as patronizing. But I am studying this stuff a lot more than I used to lately and I really like the extra confidence the awareness of reality gives you when conceptualizing fantasy... Still haven't got my sleep... I'd better go now Happy painting!

well, what i mean by being too much traditional, is like i mostly used normal layers with normal brush mode, no adjustment layers, well mostly traditional techniques, but of course perspective, anatomy... are a must. Thanks again for the tips

Thank you. I've been getting adventurous with layers overlays and masks recently. It can bring in a whole bunch of happy color accidents. I highly recommend

I tend to experiment with that too. I worship the day I found out about masking.
