Falcolf In reply to ??? [2012-06-11 21:01:01 +0000 UTC]
Thank you so much! This is one of my favourite pictures of mine that I've done of him, so thank you!

I love the painted look you were trying to do, it turned out perfectly! And i also like the expression, you really made this pic come alive and gave it a "soul"! I also love the background! And the last thing i am going to comment on was that this was an experiment! i love it when people try new things and expand the horizon so to say! But really this is great! I love the fact that this was an experiment and i just love the picture itself! so this is great and keep it up!

I love his expression!! There's a little something which makes it perfect.. i don't know what it is, you must have found some kind of really good balance between his smile and his eyebrow's movement, plus his fur composition
+fave
I think it should be worth giving a try to a more detailed pic!
Keep it up!

This has a very natural look to it, very painterly. I also love Kayoss' jagged-toothed grin.

That's cool. Nice job. Also with falcolf anatomy (I did read that! I didn't know they had gills!) But if you don't mind, I have a question (if you don't mind): on the evolutionarary track, what came before a falcolf? Or are genetics obsolete in Rimer?
π: 0 β©: 1
Falcolf In reply to KazelKloud [2009-06-05 05:09:00 +0000 UTC]
Genetics are still in effect on Rimer thanks for asking! The falfox, a species which was once as widespread as the falcolf but is now endangered came first. Falcolfs and falfoxes, while considered falla, are actually a group of their own and it is unknown how they relate to other fallan predators of Rimer. (I haven't figured it out yet. There's probably some fossil record or something somewhere
. Think of it as a evolutionary mystery.) Thanks for reading!

This picture glorifies Kayoss, unlike the previous comic page. >> I just have a strange question to ask about his species. What happens if they get cold? (If that's possible) Like, how will the body work if they cannot feel heat when their temperature decreases?
π: 0 β©: 1
Falcolf In reply to Senraikin [2009-06-05 05:19:26 +0000 UTC]
Thanks and great question!
Falcolfs and other firestone bearing creatures (aka drakoon, dragons, fire cats...) don't generally get sick, as their bodies are too warm to promote most bacterial or viral life forms. However, while immune to most, they are not immune to all and there is in fact a very deadly virus attacks the firestones of creatures such as falcolfs, which most of the time proves fatal. Without a working firestone, their body temperature is not regulated and they become susceptible to lesser diseases which because of their general lack of anti-disease immunity, kills them. Sort of like HIV or AIDS, which destroys your white blood cells.
Drakoon however, have a leg up over most firestone bearers - because they carry the attributes of two very different species, they have inherited quite strong immune systems from their ancestors the copper elves, so the virus which might kill natural species such as a falcolf won't generally kill them. Besides, drakoon have a better way of managing their population - outright war.

Senraikin In reply to Falcolf [2009-06-05 11:10:15 +0000 UTC]
Thanks! ^__^
Haha, imaginery HIV/AIDS. xD But, can they get cold? Like if they've fallen ill because their firestones were being attacked.
So wait, they go to war with each other if they get sick?
π: 0 β©: 1
Falcolf In reply to Senraikin [2009-06-07 17:48:41 +0000 UTC]
Falcolfs can't get cold because they don't have temperature receptors. Even if their firestones failed they wouldn't feel heat or cold though they then would be susceptable to hypothermia.
And no, I said drakoon don't get sick because they have immune systems besides firestones. They go to war regardless of physical state. An emperor could say 'kill' and his soldiers would go out to kill the opposing faction, even if they were injured. What I mean by this, is drakoon manage their own population without the need of predators or illness to do it for them.

This looks great!
Kayoss is so awesome, and his eye is absolutely stunning. It totally grabbed my attention when I first saw this piece. Not to mention his expression is great. His grin is so scheming, yet he looks slightly nonchalant. I love it.
And thanks for all that info. Very interesting breed, I must say.
Keep up the great work! I look forward to seeing more.

Thanks! I'm very pleased with this work, so I'm glad you like it so much.
If you want to know more about the species, I have a more indepth explaination of it in my gallery (on my front page under the comic pages.)

Absolutly love this picture you really captured your talent in this one and i have to say im VERY JEALOUS of the way you did this ^^ never been done before (that i know of). Most people either try cartoony or realistic! This is just INCREDIBLE! GAH <3 Its simple and complex <3!

I loooove the brow ridge over his eyes. And the black lip line thing on his bottom jaw.
He looks so intense.
Studying Falcolfs makes perfect sense to me. I do the same for my own species. I actually think many artists βstudyβ their own species, as otherwise itβs difficult to make them seem believable and real.
Glad to hear itβs nice in Vancouver. There are storm warnings here. *sigh* Soon itβll be tornado seasonβ¦ ;;

Thanks so much T-VR! I'm glad it makes sense to you, I bet a lot of people were like 'wut?!'
it really is helping me to draw them better I think
it gives me better guidelines to work with, so they don't end up looking like winged wolves lol
It's TOO nice here! o.O It's hotter than an oven in my apartment! If I sit on the floor I stick!

OOOOOOO I love Kayoss' eyes! I like your speed paint job o3o. You should do a speed paint of another character and record it and upload to youtube so we can watch it 8D. And also, because you put all of those anatomy things in the description, it makes me want to draw a Falcolf x3.
I have yet to memorize my copyright stuff xD.

OMG I WOULD LOVE TO RECORD A SPEED PAINT!! Except... I don't know how. Do you know of software I could download to do it that would work with vista?
I tried downloading something but it didn't work when I tested it.
