Description
Taken in PG County MD, this is an authentic slave quarters from a sad time in our Nation's History. I went out today to get some photos with my new "power shot" so I could practice up before my trip. Any thoughts would be helpful. Note: I used a sepia filter from Adobe and "aged" the photo for this shot. not the best way to test things I guess, but I wanted an old feel.I'll send any who asks for more info on the house. It is important to remember our past so we don't allow the same mistakes to occur.

Just add your own mark like we do, that way you can place it in a manner that doesn't detract from the photo but so that a thief can't cut it out.
I agree about including the other buildings, make the main subject off center in a way that draws you to it.
And you're so right about needed to remember our past, just like with my civil war cemetery pics.
I do love the subject my friend.

Thanks,
I'll have to work on my own mark I guess. (I'm sure I'll have time over the next few weeks.)
By the way, Becky is a nice shot. The lighting is really good, not too imposing with a backlight, nicely done.

Yes, I'm sure you will lol.
Thank you. We did a whole series with her last night. Her BF is in Iraq right now so these are for his benefit.

the color + the texture + the watermark makes it quite difficult to write a critique...
if the buildings at the left are part of those installations, then i thing another image that includes them would be a good thing to do.
composition is good.
hope this helps.

Thanks it does. I started adding the marks because a few pics were "used" with out permission, but that is limiting so I may start to risk it again.

what many people do is put their own semi-transparent mark of images in a place where it would be very difficult work to remove. like over a complex decoration in the image. it does not need to be large, which permits to see clearly the whole image.
check that on images here on Da to have a better idea about it.
