General Description { Requiem is a large cat with a lot of power under his thick fur. While not a true Maine Coon, he still retains many of the characteristics, including his big paws, large body, and long fur. He’s tall and intimidating, something he doesn’t mind at all. His coat is a dark blue-black that fades from his tail and head as well as becoming lighter under his belly. His tabby marks are minimal, only showing on his legs, tail and face. The only white to be seen on his body is two white front paws. He has heterochromia, meaning that his eyes are two different colors. The right eye is a very dark grey, pushing black. The left eye is a light blue. At first glance, many believe that the blue eyes were received from an injury to the eye, but in truth, he was born that way. His eye sight is very good. Requiem also sports a nasty scar on his left hind leg from where his father, Lucius, tried attacking him so many years ago. While young, many of the scars had healed or are hidden under his thick fur, but his leg never did. It doesn’t hurt him much anymore, but something had been messed up during the attack, so if Requiem stays on it for too long or stresses it excessively, he may start to limp. It’s nothing serious, though, and with some rest, he’s all good. }

Quintus // “ Quintus, who? I don’t know a – oh, that old bag of fur? Yeah, I passed him up on the ladder a long time ago. He’s nothing to me. Made my life a living hell. For all I care, he could drown somewhere. I’d never bow down so low as to take care of him. Unfortunately, it’s my job now. Still, I love seeing him suffer. Gets a taste of his own medicine, “

Personality
[ possessive | jealous | malevolent | malign | hostile | schizophrenic | dedicated | stubborn ]
[ possessive ]
“ That’s mine, and there’s no way you’ll ever lay your paws on it; I suggest you back off, “
It’s not hard to tell that what belongs to Requiem will always belong to Requiem. He doesn’t put up with much crap, especially when it comes to his belongings. There isn’t much that he owns, but every now and then he finds something of interest to stash away. On the off chance that Requiem will ever make a friend, he will become possessive over them. He wants to know where they are all the time – all day, every day. He can’t stand seeing his “friends” with others, and he often becomes cold towards them and then completely ignores everyone. Mixed with his violent tendencies, this trait can be quite dangerous. However, there aren’t many, if any at all, that Requiem would even care or have such feelings for, and he would like to keep it that way.
[ envious ]
“ Honestly, they don’t deserve what they have. It should be mine, “
Along with being possessive of his belongings, Requiem is also very jealous. From the time he was a young kit, he had lived in the shadow of his brother, Quintus. Quintus was always their father’s favorite, and Requiem was left behind to clean up the messes that were made. He never got the praise and attention that Quintus got. This led him to lonely nights of brooding. Requiem doesn’t know how to handle certain situations, and he’s normally always by himself. Even his brother doesn’t have much to do with him. Both of his parents don’t, either. Therefore, Requiem became very jealous, watching from a distance as life went on. As an Underling, he saw how others were treated, and when new kits were born, he saw how they were treated. It was nothing like he had gotten. It made his insides twist with the want to have what they had. The jealousy, however, just fuels him to push harder and to go further. Now, at a full four years old, he is still hidden in Quintus’s shadow, but the need for approval from his parents makes Requiem push himself to extremes. Requiem also has a hard time keeping cats around him because of his jealous and possessive tendencies.
[ malevolent / malign ]
“ I keep these claws sharp for a reason.. “
Requiem is, no doubt, rather dangerous. He has a lot of hatred balled up within him and has plenty of reason to hate the world. He doesn’t get along very well with anyone. His main goal in life is to hurt others, which is really quite ironic, considering that he’s the Witch Doctor.* While it is his duty to heal the injured, he takes complete satisfaction in seeing the hurt cats come to him. He loves the feeling he gets when they give him those eyes – the ones filled with pain. Sometimes he’ll even wait a day or two before finally “having enough time” for them. If he could, he would probably never heal them and would just laugh as he watched them suffer. Still, Requiem takes his job very seriously, so he is often found lying to himself to get his job done. He’s a big of a compulsive liar to begin with, so there isn’t much that he says that can be taken seriously. Requiem holds himself high, though, and it’s not hard to tell that you need to get out of his way if he’s coming towards you. Although he was chosen for the witch doctor position, he still did training at night, when no one was watching, and his muscles are strong from the work outs. He takes pride in knowing that he can handle himself. He’s often looked down upon or looked over for having such a position, but due to the rough past, he’s very familiar with that feeling and just won’t take it anymore. The best way to guarantee being healed by Requiem is to make sure that you don’t piss him off. His paws are large, a feature of the Maine Coon that runs through his veins, and he has no problem using them.
[ hostile ]
“ I don’t believe you.. “
While being violent and jealous, Requiem is often quite hostile. It’s not really towards the Tribe, per say, though there are definitely a handful of cats that he wouldn’t mind living without. As a young Sentry, he had learned a great deal about the Gang, and from there on out, he hated them. Sometimes he wishes that his fate would have been different so that he could fight them sometime, but he takes greater pride in knowing that he can sit where he is and use his twisted mind to plot away. If anyone so much as uses the word “gang”, Requiem loses it. He can’t stand those cats and is deeply religious. He’ll chew your ear off for even bringing it up.
[ schizophrenic ]
“ The voices – they have names. This is Maddox, and that’s Nyambi.. What do you mean you can’t hear them..? “
Requiem is, to put is simply, crazy. Whatever part of his mind is left, is nothing much. Despite having an uncanny memory and thirst for knowledge, there isn’t much left up there for him. Even at such a young age, he’s disturbed by these things. Requiem experiences the hallucinations, though at this points, he’s become pretty good at deciding between reality and a fictional world. Besides the frequent hallucinations, Requiem hears voices. They live inside his head, and he’s conveniently given them the names Maddox and Nyambi. When asked, he’ll tell you that Maddox has a deep voice. When angered, the voice sounds rough and sometimes a little hoarse. It’s the scariest of the two – definitely the bully. Nyambi is gentler. This voice has a more gentle tone and is more high pitched than Maddox. This one can become quite shrill, though, and is often the cause of many a great migraine. Maddox and Nyambi have become Requiem’s best friends, and they are normally the only things he talks to. He’s always rambling off to them, and they often have interesting conversations. Most cats roll their eyes in his direction when they hear him mumbling to himself.
[ dedicated ]
“ This is my job, and no matter the degree of which I wish I could leave, I would never, ever abandon my position, “
Surprisingly, Requiem is ridiculously dedicated to his work – some may go as far to say that he’s obsessive when it comes to his work. Being the witch doctor wasn’t his first choice, but now that he has the job, he would never go back. There’s no way he could. He knows that he was chosen as the Underling because the witch doctor previously saw his potential. The fact that there was at least someone out there to care for him meant something to him. He’s not the best witch doctor out there, and he certainly wouldn’t fit the job description from a quick glance, but when dug down deep enough, his desire is there. He knows everything he needs to know and then some.
[ stubborn ]
“ I already told you that I’m not going to do that. Don’t ask me again, “
With dedication comes stubbornness. Some say Requiem is a bit too dedicated, and a certain kind of stubbornness certainly comes out of it. Aside from his work, Requiem does his own thing. There isn’t anyone that could tell him what he could and couldn’t do. He simply wouldn’t care. Once he has an idea set in his mind, he goes out to do it. There isn’t much that can ever change his mind.
History
Noname
Requiem was born to a rather young and naïve she-cat named Aura. Unbeknownst to Requiem and most of the Tribe itself, his father, Lucius, had run off with more than one cat. His own mother was very young, hardly even a hunter yet. She had just finished her training when she met up with Lucius. The two hit it off instantly, what with the pretty young female flashing her pretty coat. She thought Lucius was quite charming and wanted to be around him all the time. She looked up to the older male. They eventually fell into a rocky relationship, something that Aura believed was love. They were together for a very short time before Aura became pregnant. Of course, she was overjoyed, but Lucius was merely disgusted with his own foolishness for letting it happen. Still, he waited out the pregnancy with her, pretending all the while to be thrilled for the birth of their children while he plotted a way to rid the annoying she-cat and her soon to be born kits.
When the kits were born, Aura was placed with a she-cat named Atlantis. She, too, had a litter of kits, and the young Aura was thrilled to have another mother to talk to. They became good friends over the anticipation of becoming mothers. Still, under Lucius’s request, she kept the father a secret. Eventually, however, Aura found it hard to evade all of the questions. Everyone had different theories as to whom their fathers were, but Aura was bound by the secret and couldn’t tell. She feared that Lucius would harm her two little kits. There was also increasing suspicion between herself and Atlantis. Each female had seen the other with Lucius, and soon they were both hostile towards each other. It was around a month after their birth when Lucius requested that they go for a walk. Aura had become increasingly restless, and she agreed right away. With her two kits in tow, they left the camp and went into the forests surrounding it. It was here that Lucius confronted Aura. She admitted that she was going to tell the Tribe about him being the father to their kits, and he became outraged. The two argued, and Aura being the stubborn young cat she was, refused to give up her side. Lucius then attacked her, dead set on keeping these two kits a secret.
Aura did her best at trying to defend herself and her kits, but in the end, Lucius was much, much larger than she was. One wrong move, one slip of the paw, and she had hit the ground hard. Lucius spared no mercy in killing her before going after the young kittens. Requiem’s sister, a young female that looked just like her mother, was the first. Little did they know that Atlantis, Lucius’s other lover, had followed along. She had become furious after learning about Lucius having another female, and even more so to learn that they had kits together. She was, however, shocked to see Lucius trying to kill Aura, and although every fiber of her body hated her, she couldn’t stand there and watch her former friend and her kits get killed. Her maternal instinct kicked in, and Atlantis leaped out into the clearing, knocking Lucius away from the kits. Furious, Lucius meant to go after her, but soon realized that two dead she-cats and a handful of dead kits was way too suspicious. He couldn’t touch Atlantis without making the situation look bad. He made Atlantis swear that she wouldn’t say anything to anyone, for the sake of her life as well as her kits’. She agreed, and Lucius then went off to tell the Tribe about “the accident”.
Atlantis, however, stuck around long enough to notice that one of the kits was still breathing. The ragged movement of his little chest was enough for her. As much as she despised her old friend for taking her mate, as a mother, she couldn’t let the kitten die. The little tom, named Requiem, fell under her care from there on out. Having been traumatized and on the brick of death, he has no recollection of these events and is completely unaware of the fact that Atlantis isn’t his real mother.
underling
When Requiem was old enough, he was given to a mentor to become a sentry. Even as a kit, he was larger than most, including his sickly brother, Quintus. He was given the letter “R” and sent off. The Tribe, he assumed, had high hopes for him. However, whenever he wasn’t training, he was running errands or forced to look after Quintus and Atlantis. There wasn’t much rest for the young cat. He did, however, take some pride in the fact that he had become an underling before Quintus did. His bi-colored eyes were always bright with the anticipation of growing to become as big and strong as the best of the sentry’s. He wanted to outdo his father and brother – to make his family proud. His dreams were crushed, though, when the previous witch doctor picked him out. He was a whole nine months old, and now Requiem was forced to abandon his post. Still, he accepted the position and left to become the new Wicca. This position, he knew, was higher ranking than what his brother would become.
The grumpy old fart that trained him, nicknamed Doc for the sake of a better name, was the only other cat that Requiem came to hate as much as his brother. He was lazy and chubby, and worst of all, he was always getting on the younger cat’s nerves. He didn’t think he was that great of a witch doctor, and Requiem made it his personal mission to become better than him. He was never interested in the stars and such, but he listened anyway, figuring he might as well know about them. On the rare occasion that Doc wasn’t lecturing him or he wasn’t forced to do something for Quintis and/or Atlantis, he snuck off to train. He often followed other mentors and their underlings and watched their sessions and then went off to practice them on his own. He was obsessed with becoming a strong witch doctor. He wanted to be able to hold his ground. Of course, with his ever growing size and now growing muscles and knowledge, Requiem was on his way to success.
Adult / Witch Doctor
Shortly after Requiem had hit his third year, Doc had gone missing. Requiem had been visibly tense around him around a month or two beforehand. Quintus was getting further and further with his training, and Requiem feared that he might actually be able to pass him up. He wasn’t going to let that happen. The more he saw Quintus, the more paranoid he became. At this point, the voices became more clear and eventually came to live with him. He couldn’t handle it anymore, and, without knowing how to handle them, gave in. They told him that all he had to do was kill Doc, make it look accidental, move up to become the witch doctor, and forever stand over his brother in ranking.
It was around that time when he requested that he and Doc should collect more herbs. The two set out shortly, and Requiem lured Doc further and further away from the camp. They were near the border to the Gang when the dark grey cat attacked him. His huge paws and strong muscles easily overpowered the fat witch doctor, and finally all of Requiem’s training had paid off. He easily killed off the stunned wicca and then took off, returning with a few herbs and telling the Tribe that there had been an attack. He lied, telling them that they had split up to try confusing the Gang cats, and when a patrol set out, they found Doc dead near the border where Requiem had killed him. They assumed it was a Gang attack.
From then on out, Requiem became the official witch doctor. Now being a little older than four years, he’s decided to take in an Underling. He would have loved to stay by himself, but after seeing the imbeciles that they tried to pass as underlings, he knew he’d have to pick soon to save himself from getting someone untrainable. It was a hard decision, but he eventually decided that Rana looked like a good candidate. As much as he dislikes her, he knows that she’s smart and would do well as the witch doctor. It’s the only thing that keeps him from rejecting her.
