Good grief. I can't believe I'm finally submitting this. It's been sitting on my comp for weeks, because I just couldn't figure out a good way to color it. I'd start and stop and then start over again. And I'm still not sure this is the greatest thing I could've done with it, but at least it's presentable at this point.It's a pic for my sis, *agent-indigo , because she wanted some ideas for a spirit she was planning on putting in one of her comic ideas. The line art turned out a bit more elaborate then I'd planned, but I think the effect is overall pretty good. Well, enjoy.
Oh, and, yes, I'm aware I'm calling it " colored" when it's black and white. Well, I like black and white, so oh well. *shrugs* I guess this'll have to do. ^^
The girl is copyrighted to my sister, and the artwork belongs to me, line art, design, everything. ^__^ Thanks.

I love the Victorian feel to this, the detail on her dress is absolutely gorgeous. I also quite like the shading you've done, making her appear ghost-like to me. Very nice.

Actually, I just kept adding layers of gray and black until it looked dark enough on the right side. I think the light spots were just what I decided to keep light, and then I added a little more white in those areas to give them some definition. ^__^ If I'm remembering correctly, lol.
Oh, don't worry, there's no hurry with the Elven thing! I'm just glad you offered to get it for me.

This is amazing, your sister must have been thrilled! I think you've masterfully controlled the depth and contrast between the light and darker areas, the difference is subtle yet stark at the same time. I love how it criss-crosses over the character, making it looks as if she's trapped or at least 'behind' some sort of trellis. I don't think I could have done that.
What's more, the patterning in the background, and the details on her clothing finishes the picture off perfectly. I love detailed work, it is this which makes any artistic image 'come to life', so to speak. Details show us the reality of something which is not necessarily available to us in our own real world. And this dichotomy intrigues me the most.
