Description This is my secret Santa for StrawberryBlonde18.

The prompt was Velvare and Gudrun dancing at a masquerade Christmas ball.

This is my first secret Santa and it was a lot of fun to create this! (I’ve also never drawn a full person before which was an interesting challenge)
And being the writing type I am, I wrote a little scene (in Velvare’s point of view) to go along with the drawing.
I hope you like it!

We walked out onto the dance floor—the one that was outside in the winter—another one of Joshua Shepherd’s “brilliant” ideas.  Look at him over there with Isis, smug as can be.  That guy thought he was so—

“Bhatair?”

I looked down at Gudrun, realizing I had somehow completely forgotten she was standing right there in that beautiful red dress, too absorbed in my irritation at Joshua Shepherd.  “You look amazing,” I said.

She smiled.  “Thank you.”  Gudrun added, as if she knew what I was thinking, “But of course it’s not as beautiful as my other dress, the one someone ruined when they shoved me into a river.”

“It was one time!” I protested.  “How long are you going to keep bringing that up before you let it go?!”

Gudrun smirked.  “For as long as I deem necessary.”

I glanced up, noticing Joshua watching me.  When he saw me look up he started talking to his wife, no doubt telling her how ridiculous and incompetent he thought I was.  “Bhatair.”  Gudrun got my attention again.  “Let this Christmas just be about us—forget about Joshua Shepherd and everyone else.  Focus on you and me, and the beautiful northern lights lighting up the sky.”

I nodded slowly, putting Joshua out of my mind.  “Just you and me.”  I smiled at her, wondering how I could have ever gotten so lucky for a girl like her to like someone like me.

The music started and we began dancing.  We danced the night away, all other people and things fading into the background.  I wouldn’t have wanted to be anywhere else.  As the night waned on I told her, “I love you.”

“I love you too.”  A sweet smile spread across her face.  “Merry Christmas, Bhatair.”

“Merry Christmas Gudrun.”
