The shallow depth of field produces a nice effect, and you controlled it well. However I think it could have been better stopped down a bit further. f2.8 would have removed the soft focus on her chin and neck, and f4 would have still given you that island effect where the subject is completely in focus with the edges falling off rapidly, but your subject focus would have been that much sharper. (I've got that 50mm f1.4 lens for the Nikon, and like most lenses, you have to stop it down by 2 in order to get the best sharpness)
A smaller aperture would have also helped with those blown out highlights behind the subject. It would have balanced the image a bit.
Overall though, I like the composition and you did good job keeping her eye in focus. The frame could be balanced up a bit, because the focal point of the image is her cleave and not the eye like I assume you intended.

Yea, I've noticed that I like to use the widest apertures way too much. I see the same thing in a lot of my photos. It's something I'll definately keep in mind at Ikkicon this Saturday.

I do the exact same thing and its been work to get over it. Having studio flashes and learning to control exposure with the aperture has really helped me get over my natural tenancy to just open her up and go crazy with the bokeh.
I wish I was going to Ikkicon. :/

Haha, yea same here. The studio is the place where I learned to not do that at, cuz it just makes my shots all overexposed.
