Description
Yes, I'm well aware that I'm posting this late XDJanuary
My first piece of the year, and one where I'd started taking tips from several art books that I'd begun reading last December. Throughout the first month I started working on character form and clothing, the latter of which I returned to continuously throughout the year. The featured character, Gale, came from a drawpile session with Aw0 I did awhile back.
February
February was a difficult choice between the featured piece and this artwork of Dia dancing . The former won out simply because of the complexity and technique, though in reality I love both pieces equally.
March
March saw the creation of Princess' latest ref sheet , a piece with a decently complex background and several other pieces I'm rather proud of. The night fury won out in the end out of favoritism, to be perfectly honest. The only reason I drew her to begin with because of my struggle with finding an anthro night fury that I really liked.
April
April was completely full of memes. This was literally the only piece that I posted in April that wasn't either a story or some form of meme. It helps that I really like the character design.
May
This incidental sketch of Princess in a kimono turned into one of my favorite Princess pieces of all time, even if it didn't quite fit her demeanor. Amazingly enough, she beat out three different bats that I really liked.
June
Technically the lineart from this piece was finished in January. After getting an idea, I decided to color it in June as a mid-transformation piece. This is still one of my favorite Camellia pieces, and the main reason I started drawing her in her casual clothing more often.
July
Oddly enough, I didn't post very much in July. This was during art fight season, and also during a terribly busy time at work that left me drained of motivation and energy. This piece of Aronia, who belongs to DreagonArchives , was my first art fight piece and the only one I managed in July.
August
Once the busy season at work was over, I was able to start picking up the pace on artwork and art fight pieces. Out of that came this piece for AvisSeven , which is still one of my favorite cel-shaded pieces I've ever done. I told him before art fight started that I intended to draw this character because I liked her, and I wasn't kidding.
September
During this month I began heavily experimenting with digital painting . Those experiments seeped into this commission for DarthSithari , which I admittedly went a little bit overboard on. As an honorable mention, here's a really cute Ebonique who I couldn't possibly allow to go unacknowledged.
October
I had several technical commissions that could have easily taken this spot for October. The reason I chose this one is because it and its predecessor led to 365DaystoNormal , a project that I've been working on with WhenWolvesCryOut that has been going strong so far and will definitely continue into 2021.
November
November was full of artwork that I'm incredibly happy with, including this late October commission for ZaphireDfox Β and this picture Β of WhenWolvesCryOut as a suulkie. Sweater Cats, my choice for featured picture, is definitely the cutest of the three entries and one of my most popular non-fanart pieces this year. There's supposed to be one more cat in the picture, but I couldn't quite fit her into the frame.
December
This featured image is by far my most demanding piece this year. Not because of the characters themselves, but because of the detail I decided to put into the background, a decision that cost nearly 7 extra hours worth of work! It would have likely been longer, but I wanted to ensure that I could use this piece for December 2020 and not January 2021. Also of note in December is this picture of Sparky that , quite frankly, I think is just adorable : )
