"Furuya! It's time for practice!"

"Furuya?"

"...Er, Furuya?"

Where did he go?

You poked your head into the club warehouse.

"Furu-"

There's a giant snot bubble coming from his nose...

Wait a minute.

"Furuya!"

The bubble popped. The raven haired pitcher groaned and rubbed his eyes.

"5 more minutes..."

"Furuya, why are you sleeping in here? Are you hiding from practice?" You asked the last sentence more sternly.

Furuya stretched and gave you a confused look, as if you were supposed to know the reason for his absence.

"It's hot."

"Seriously?"

"I don't want to go out there. It's too hot."

"It's summer, of course it's going to be hot." You arched an eyebrow.

"I don't care. I don't want to go outside."

You sighed. He sounded like a toddler.

You stared at each other in silence until you heard Sawamura's loud voice from across the field.

"ICCCCEEE CRREEAAMMMM!"

Curious, you turned around to see a couple of the baseball players running along the sidewalk, Sawamura in the clear lead, catching up to a white truck.

Those days of continuous running finally paid off for him.

"Oh, I have an idea. Furuya, stay here."

"I didn't plan on leaving anyways."

"Heh.." You shut the door.

"Furuya-? Oh, he went back to sleep. Furuya, wake up." You poked his rib cage with your foot, and he stirred.

"Take this."

"What is it?" He yawned.

"A blueberry flavored slushie."

"Slushie?" You nodded as he took the frozen flavored drink. You watched him earnestly as he took a sip.

"It tastes good."

"Right? I always take the cherry flavor, but I bought two since you were complaining about the heat."

"Thanks."

You smiled. You sat across from him and quietly slurped your slushies in peace.

"Have you cooled down, Furuya?"

"Yeah."

"Great! Are you going to go to practice?"

"No."

"No? Why not?"

"I'll just get hot again."

You creased your eyebrows in frustration.

"If you don't go, you won't get to practice your pitching with Miyuki-senpai." You stated mischievously. His ear twitched at the word "pitch"

"Will I get to pitch today?" He asked all too hopeful.

"Not if you stay in here."

Furuya sat in silence.

"Are you really pondering whether or not you should go to practice?" You scratched your head incredulously.

After an intense minute, he finally responded.

"I'll go."

"You shouldn't need to think about it.."

"As long as I can pitch."

"I wouldn't guarantee that, though." Before you could finish your sentence, he was out the door.

"Furuya, wait!"

"Er, Furuya, what's wrong?"

"...Furuya?"

"It's too hot..."

"Furuya!" You yelled in fustration.
