Diana's natural body and scales are all a shell that was cursed to constantly wrap around her. The she'll is made from skullwalker bones compressed and formed into a near perfect body in order to contain her unstable light inside.

During a fight with a Ghidor, Diana's arm was caught in its jaw and she was forced to transform from her caught arm. Her transformation was an enhanced shell ment to contain any exposed. Escaping light. Which would turn her into a monster in prism armor to force her light to calm down.

The uneven distribution exploded and damaged her arm when she activated her fail safe, which when she transformed back, her arm malformed the shell and exposed her light even in her normal form.
Since the shell wasnt present, it grew worst until her whole arm was gone before 404 gave her a prosthetic. That's why she has a metal arm in her Titan profile.
