they are so still that plants and vegetation will grow on them. they also carry a special oil around their scales that can be used as a fertilizer to make plants grow faster.

they will typically hide in undergrowth and bushes and stalk prey for several hours on end before finally striking, they have a large success rate as they usually wait for their prey to fall asleep.
if they are caught, however, they don't typically fight back, at least males don't. males with retreat into the forest while females will go on a violent rampage to recapture their prey.

dontos also have a brightly colored crest at the center of their heads which is used for mating purposes.
