I believe this photograph was taken at the time of the funeral (in 1910) of King Edward VII or at the time the following year of the coronation of King George V of Great Britain.

Wonderful, truly this picture is a piece forΒ the history books, even more impressive is that, of these nine monarchies, five have managed to survive over a century of violence and war with their thrones intact (Norway, Belgium, Spain, Britain and Denmark alongside Sweden and the Netherlands).

I'm guessing the Swedes, Russians, Dutch, and Italians weren't invited?

Yes American-Emperor Β is right, that's William II, cousin of King George and Tsar Nicholas II. Some even say he contributed to the outbreak of WWI.Β

That's not entirely true, while the Kaiser was far from being the ideal monarch, Wilhelm actually played only a small part in the outbreak of WWI and even then all he did was alienate and strengthen ties to Germany's allies thus shaping the geopolitical spheres which clashed during the war.

Of course, most of the pressing causes lied long before 1914. Archduke's assasination just sparked the the WW1. Only one monarch could not be blamed for it, however, in the end all the blame was put on the Germans by the Big Three.Β

Yeah, that's pretty much what happened. This was due to the fact that of the Central Powers, Imperial Germany was the leading nation while the others (the Austrian, Ottoman and Bulgarian Empires) were in decline and largely relied on Germany's support to fight and win their fights more often then not.

The Wilhelm picture is Wilhelm II, the cousin of the also pictured King George of Britain.
