Yeah, Mind Game was a massive inspiration to me so I've pretty much ripped the style to some degree. Still yet to see Tekkon Kinkreet, it comes out on DVD over here next month. Been looking forward to it for ages, the art looks astounding. So vibrant.

mindgame is my favorite movie ever at the moment.
its a masterpiece on so many levels.
i saw the canadian premiere of tekkon at the fantasia festival.
its really great! obviously not as great as mindgame, and its in totaly different movie. much more traditional in its storytelling and pacing. almost like a western. actually it is very much a western film, the director being american and all that.
the art is absolutely batshit insane. the city the movie take's place in is pure eye and mind candy. the backgrounds here blow mindgame way out of the water. but hell, that movie mostly took place inside a whale so...
also, they clearly had some of the same art staff on both films. the characters are drawn in the exact same style as mindgame. which i love. and also kind of washed off on me too. love the angularity of it all. and the way they draw the human body. the long necks, the tiny legs. its wonderful.

I definately will. Mind Game is definately my favourite film ever, watching the end sequence never fails to amaze me. There's a nice montage of some of Masaaki Yuasa's animation here [link] and if you haven't seen Noiseman Sound Insect I suggest you do. Morimoto and Yuasa are pretty much the ultra animatey team.

studio 4° is awesome, I recently found out that they made "Beyond" a short from the animatrix. the best one there was in the whole movie I think.
