Description
Clouds rolled slow and careless over the ground, a wet fog that had begun to blanket the valley. The burning sun was hidden now, it's scorching summer rays blocked by the thin veil of cloud. It was, still, blisteringly hot, but evening was nearing. The summer's heat had been felt so much that day that one could travel for hours and hardly see any creature, as they all hid from the heat in the pooling shade beneath sprawling trees which gracefully ignored the burn. The sky had begun to fade to lilac, and the orange sun cast a rainbow of color over the hills. A certain twinkling could be seen, but it was not the stars that blinked over the hills.

Gallifrey's gem-like horns caught the dying rays of the sun, shining like stars. He turned his head, now blessed with the new horns given by Aether, to his companion. His face showed no expression. He had no real recollection how he had begun to travel with this... interesting stallion. Currently, the Forest was squawking about some twig that was caught in his luxurious, flowing mane, and biting at it. The twig waved just out of reach. Rolling his near-black eyes, Gallifrey leaned over and snagged the twig from the other stallion's mane, who yelped in protest as a strand or three of hair was pulled from his neck.

"I fear I must be on my way." Gallifrey said curtly, before turning and heading in the opposite direction. "Hey, hold on, Gandalf!" The stallion leapt after Gallifrey, who puckered his brow in annoyance. "Say, I know of some fruit trees near here, and with those spiny tines of yours, you could perhaps get them?" Fiyero suggested with a coy grin. Gallifrey, in his short time around this stallion, had learned that he was not only vain but extremely unmotivated to do anything for himself. And his constant jabbering and grooming of his hair was beginning to become rather dull.

"Apologies, but no." Gallifrey said, grumpily. A twinge of light caught his eye on the far hill. A mare - beautiful and lithe, was coming out of the grove of aspens. Her horns glittered and shone like diamonds, enhancing the gemstones laced on her Cosmic Crown and in the jewels on her horn cuffs. She was indeed beautiful, though she was not young, and Gallifrey found that he was able to drown out the other stallion's voice for a moment. He noticed that she was adorned with many of Aether's gifts, and Gallifrey felt an instant connection with her. As a prophet of the Highlord, any of his adorned children were among Gallifrey's favorite Ballators.

Fiyero jabbered on, not noticing the beauty behind him. Suddenly, an idea struck Gallifrey. "Well, would you look at that there, Fiyero?" Gallifrey motioned. Pausing mid-sentence, Fiyero turned and saw the mare. Ah, yes, a perfect candidate to try his charm on. Gallifrey stepped aside as Fiyero picked up a bouncy trot towards the mare, who looked curious but wary at his approach. Fiyero began to work his charm, flattering her and speaking softly. Gallifrey stayed back, and watched as the mare's face descended into a blank expression before glancing behind at Gallifrey and raising a brow. The Asiatic ballator smiled apologetically, letting out a soft chuckle. He'd never been a wingman before.

AHhhH this was fun! It was so long since I've done any art with my characters in it, so this was a nice change!
