Hahaha, you know? I thought that too at first. But upon reflection I thought it was as close to losing the world as we know it as I've ever come. A man trying to hold up what's left of his family and realistically dealing with the most terrifying of encounters, all the while keeping his son safe, was a stark reminder to me of our dependency on our structured society and how if it were to break down, we would all go back to our animalistic roots for the sole purpose of surviving. A great departure from all the mindless pyrotechnics and meaningless romantic comedies we've had to endure lately. Basically, it put me in perspective.

well I do have to agree with you. That would be the closest representation of how the human psyche would react to such a tragic event. However I can't help but think with the kind of technology we have out there right now we couldn't come up with some kind of wind powered green houses with UV lights that would produce enough sunlight to feed vegetables and such. We've even got genetically enhanced corn out there that can grow in any environment. There was plenty of wind and rain in the movie..and I understand that it is only a "what if" scenario, but humans are very adaptable. Yes we do depend on our technology and structure society. and its sad...but I'm such a hopeful optimist that I would more than likely be the first one to be eaten....and I love romantic comedies. there's that optimism again. Damn it.
