Description Today, is the 30th Anniversary of everyone's favorite speedy, fast-running, ring-collecting, chili dog-eating, spin-dashing, blue Hedgehog, Sonic. Here's an anniversary drawing to commemorate the occasion. Ever since his debut, he has been one of the most recognizable Video Game Characters in history. With his debut in “Sonic the Hedgehog” in 1991, his legacy has been astronomical in gaming, not as much as Mario, but still pretty close. The amount of games released by SEGA were colossal. Most were usually hits (Sonic 1, Adventure, Colors, Heroes, Generations, etc) however, there have been plenty of misses too (R, Shadow, 06, Rise of Lyric, etc). There have been multiple animated series on the Blue Hedgehog as well such as SATAM, the 1996 OVA Movie, Adventures, Underground, X, Boom, and even a crossover with OK KO Let's Be Heroes! Then, in 2020, the Blue Hedgehog made it to the big screen in his first feature-length live action film which beats out many other VG movies out there (I'm looking at you, Super Mario Bros the Movie & Mortal Kombat: Annihilation!)!

My history with Sonic? I was almost in Kindergarten, (like before 2010) and it all started when me and my family took a trip to Beijing, China. We stayed at my Aunt's house and when we got in, I saw she has a Wii. One of the games she owned was “Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games”. I played it for a little bit and when I came back to America, I've been collecting a few Sonic Merch ever since. Mainly plushies (I lost my old Sonic plush but still have my Tails, Silver and Shadow plushies) and read a few Archie Comics (Keep in mind I was still young back then and was unaware of the notorious Ken Penders) too. I then collected a few DVDs of Adventures and Underground at my local Toys R Us and Target stores. Then, when I got into YouTube, (alongside some Angry Birds videos and LEGO Videos) some of my first YT Videos were those Sonic Shorts compilations by YouTube Channel, “Sonic Paradox”. Eventually I've played some of the mainline games and I had a blast playing them. To this day, I am still a Sonic fan, not the biggest expert but still a huge fan.

Also crazy fact: I was interested in Sonic 06 when I was younger, but never picked it up. As I got older, I eventually watched people’s reviews, including James Rolfe’s review, and now I can see why I never picked up a copy.

Yes I know I'm late for the party when submitting this drawing but better late than never.

Happy 30th Anniversary to Sonic the Hedgehog!

Sonic the Hedgehog belongs to SEGA.
