I have a feeling I won't like this as much in the morning lol.Have it anyway, because I fucking love these boys.
I find it weird how back in the day I used to RABIDLY SHIP any/every combination of Heero/Duo/Wufei
but now
looking at them
I can only realistically see friendship (+ potential friendship-with-benefits lol)
because now they are children to me since I'm older lmao
and also now I really wish Gundam Wing had taken a different course; I wish it had been more about 5 insane kids not knowing what the fuck to do and coping with being the largest influence on a war encompassing Earth and space and getting their asses kicked and being forsaken by their own people, and less about 5 kids running around and not having a particularly hard time with anything save for a few instances.
It almost cheapens the story to have them all sort of just be these unflappable guys who don't act like 15-year-olds at all. I want to see them scarred and battered and volatile as fuck! I want hormones reaching critical mass! I want giant robots kicking the shit out of each other-- oh wait that does happen.
tl;dr I have a lot of feelings for Gundam Wing lololol
ps: I believe Heero is Russian. Russian, okay. Not Japanese. I really don't know where fangirls got that idea.

As far as cannon goes, in all the info he is refered to as being of Japanese decent. I translated the official website and that's what it says.
It was recently released, as the new manga, that his father was Odin Lowe, so possibly Russian, and his mother was Japanese, a woman by the name of Aoi Clark(maiden name unknown). He was raised by her and his step father until they were killed then raised by Odin.

I get what you mean, though. Our headcanons, especially when it comes to teenagers going through war, are often so much more richer than the actual series have time to develop and stuff like that.
