Our Will of Fire – A NaruHina Fanfic – Chapter 5 – Preparations

“Anyway”, Naruto continued, his tone loosing its enthusiasm, sounding quite grave, “from the looks of that, the group we took out was a scouting party, and Hinata got some information out of a sealed scroll but from what we found out… things aren’t looking good.”  The group sat silently waiting for him to give them the bad news.  “We’re going to be invaded, and not just by sound, they’ve allied themselves with our old enemies, the cloud and the rock villages.  The attack will take place before the end of the month.”

Everyone of the shinobi their with the exception of Hinata and Naruto looked pale as ghosts.  They’d all experience some form of war over the years, all of them had at the chunin exams when sound had first tried to destroy Konoha, not to mention that Kakashi had even fought during the tail end of the Great War.  The fact that there was an impending invasion that had a good chance of destroying their home was a little difficult to accept.

After a few moments of silence Naruto decided to break the tension, “I sent all the members of the scout team off to Ibiki and I sent the scroll to tsunade with special instructions to get someone from Hinata’s clan to look at it.  We won’t be unprepared when the time comes.”

The other chunin took this down in silence as they each considered the implications this had on their lives.  Before they could all sit down in corners and cry from depression however, Kakashi stepped up to the plate. “I know Tsunade told us to stay here until she gives us directions to return, but due to these unforeseen circumstances I believe we should head back.  When the village finds out about the invasion, Hinata’s kidnapping is going to be the least of their worries.  Not to mention that Naruto, you and Hinata are our two strongest fighters besides Jiraiya, and Tsunade.  She’ll need you helping out with the defences and it’s likely that you two will be put into leadership positions.”

Kakashi was, as usual, the voice of wisdom and nobody argued with him, whether this was because they already knew the futility of it, or they simply hadn’t the heart to do it he could not tell.  Without a word they went about collecting their things and clearing the area, it took but a few minutes but when they were done it was nearly impossible to tell that anyone had even been their.

“But how are we going to deal with the Hyugaa patrol me?  We can’t just leave them here.”  Sakura asked Kakashi, looking for guidance.

To her surprise it was Naruto who solved the little problem, “Kage Bunshin no Jutsu!” he yelled and numerous clones spread out.  They picked to the prisoners with only a few mumbled profanities before running off towards the village with all speed.  Sakura figured Naruto wanted them their as quickly as possible, after all the farther the clone was from the caster, the more drain it had on the users chakra.  Naruto had probably close to thirty clones, more then most people could produce period, and all of them were heading to the village which was quite a distance away, the drain must have been tremendous and she expected that if it wasn’t for Kyuubi, he likely would have been dying of chakra exhaustion that very moment.

“There, those clones will take them to the village so we won’t have to worry about leaving them out here to starve.”  He said, though a hint of weariness could he heard in his voice, clearly the previous battle, combined with his current exertions, were having a more potent effect on him then he was admitting.

“And we should follow, our spirit of youth burning bright!” Lee shouted with enthusiasm.  His constant ridicules dialect lightened the mood a little allowing the shinobi to relax.

“Yes we do need to return but we also have to consider something… Hinata” Kakashi stated simply, causing the tension in the group to return and stronger then ever, they all knew what Kakashi was getting at.  “It’s fairly clear that something has happened to Hinata and if we return to the village with her looking like this, well first off we’d have her clan to deal with, and secondly there’s the fact that Naruto is with us.”

The last part caused some confusion between the shinobi, all but Naruto anyways, he simply stared at the ground a defeated expression on his face.  ‘But sensei, why would it matter if Naruto was with us or not?” Tenten asked.

“Because if I enter town with Hinata at my side when she looks like this… then they are all likely going to assume that somehow I tainted her with my blood, that I corrupted her and that she was no longer any better then I am.  Chances are they’ll try to force us out, me most of all but likely you too Hinata.”  Naruto said, the sadness evident in his voice getting him sympathetic looks from all the girls, even Lee and Neji briefly.

“I don’t care anymore.” Hinata’s sudden, stony announcement shocking them all, rarely ever did Hinata show enough confidence to say anything like that, not to mention that she hadn’t stuttered in the least.  “I don’t care anymore” she repeated.  “I can’t use a henge, seeing as how my clan’s kekkai genkai is made for seeing through them, so I can’t hide this.  Chances are we won’t have to really worry about my family much; it’s pretty obvious that I’d be disowned for looking like this, they were trying to manage that before this whole thing even started.  But more then that, I won’t hide anymore.  If that makes the village hate me I don’t care either, you’ve faced them alone your entire life Naruto-kun, and I’m not about to let you continue to suffer alone.”  She said.  Despite turning red in the face at how obvious their affection was for one another, they both had a smile on their face.  And to Sakura’s astonishment, it wasn’t one of Naruto’s fake smiles.

“Thanks Hina-chan” he said blushing deeper as she leaned down and he kissed her.  If the group hadn’t been shocked before they certainly were now.  Hinata of all people, the girl who’d always feinted when he touched her, had just initiated a kiss with Naruto.

Before things could get out of hand Kakashi told them all to start back towards Konoha, they could talk on the way but he didn’t want them getting obsessed with Naruto and Hinata’s love life and ignoring their obvious priority of getting back to the village.

Naruto and Hinata stayed side by side, simply enjoying each others company, and the shared warmth between them.  However it wasn’t long before the girls began calling Hinata, giggling and Naruto knew they were going to be talking about him and Hinata.  It was girl-talk time, something he was not welcome to be a part of and so he moved up to join Neji and Lee.

“Ssooo Hinata, are you going to tell us what happened between you Naruto out there?”  Tenten asked mischievously.  “Ya tell us, jeez you really got lucky, I mean have you seen his body?” Sakura said, a comment Hinata had never expected to here from the pink haired Kunoichi.  However the comment definitely made her blush, after all, she’d most definitely seen his body, she’d woken up beside him wearing nothing but his boxers, sure she’d feinted, but she’d still gotten a good look.  “N-nothing l-like t-that happened b-between us” she stuttered, apparently when discussing things like sex, she was still far too uncomfortable to do it without being timid.

“Then tell us what happened out there Hinata.”  The two begged, they wanted to know so badly, it was just the way they were.

Hinata described how she’d run away, how she’d felt neglected and alone, how she thought all her friends would hate her.  When she got to the point where she told them she’d been about to take her own life, both Sakura and Tenten gave her a big hug.  “Don’t ever think like that again Hinata, it doesn’t matter what happens, you’ll always be our friend, and we’ll always love you.”  The two whispered bring tears of joy to Hinata’s eyes, she loved her friends, and they her.

After a slight period of recovery, Hinata described how Naruto had thrown his arms around her, and then refused to let her kill herself. “”I t-though he hated me a-an wanted me t-to suffer, but then he said it.” She whispered a happy look on her face.  Tenten and Sakura leaned in closer, each demanding to know what he’d said to her.  “H-he s-said t-t-that… he was in love with me.”  She finished drawing whooping cheers from both Sakura and Tenten, followed by them going hysterical as they congratulated her for finally getting her wish.

“I never would have thought Naruto could be so romantic, he really has changed over the years since he left.”  Tenten said, smiling at Hinata who was still blushing after her little celebration.  “So when are you going to let him take you?” they both asked her in unison sending Hinata back on her heels making her face invent a new shade of crimson.

“W-wh-wha-t d-do y-y-you m-me-an?” she managed to stutter out.   “Oh don’t play dumb Hinata” Sakura said grinning.  “We’ve seen the way you to are around each other, he wants you and you’ve wanted him for quite a while judging from your dreams.”  If Hinata could have turned any redder, she definitely would have at that last comment.  How could Sakura know about my dreams?  Seeing her suspicions confirmed Sakura donned a mischievous grin and Hinata had to wonder, what plot might have been forming in the young shinobi’s head.

“Well it’s not that we can blame you Hinata, after all, he’s probably the hottest ninja in the village despite what anybody says.”  “Other then Lee” Tenten piped in.  “So when are you two gonna… you know?” she asked.  Hinata didn’t know what to say, she couldn’t really answer.  She wanted him, wanted him badly, a feeling that had gotten steadily stronger after her transformation.  It had come to the point where she had to control herself whenever he simply touched her, his touch seemed to send electrical currents through her body, making it feel hot and tingly.  In truth, even if she’d only admit to herself, she’d dreamt of herself and Naruto having sex many times, and she definitely wanted him now, the only problem was that… she didn’t really know how.

“I-I-I d-don’t really k-know h-h-how.”  She said looking at the ground feeling embarrassed.  Sakura and Tenten actually flushed a little before replying, “You know those dreams you get are for a reason, you need release, and so does he.  You’d better do it soon or eventually you’re going to lose control, and from the way I’ve seen you around him… I don’t think you’ll last much longer.”  Hinata blushed again.  Am I really that obvious?  I denied him when we were out because I wasn’t ready after going through all that, but I don’t know how much longer I can go without him.

“If it’s just a question of what to do, I can tell you a few things.” Sakura said blushing deeply as she finished.  “Tsunade’s told me a few things here and there when she’s been drunk, and well… one time Jiraiya left a few copies of his perverted series here and I… well I couldn’t help myself.” She said blushing again and turning as red as Hinata, drawing a giggle from Tenten and Hinata.

Hinata listened intently, blushing the whole time as Sakura went on to describe different things that could be done when she and Naruto were in bed.  Needless to say many of the things she’d come up with on her own in her dreams, but many were also new to her, and as strange as it was, she found herself longing to try some of them out with her lover.

Hiashi stormed into the Hokage’s office, his pent up rage and fury leaking through his enraged facial expression, and harsh movements.  Hiashi was mad… no he was beyond mad, far, far past mad.  He’d been moving to meet at the designated meeting spot, the rendezvous, where he was to meet with the elite hunter team he’d sent and learn whether they had yet to succeed.  He’d waited an hour, and entire hour for the team to arrive… yet nothing came.  He’d been about to leave when abruptly, the ninja he despised above all others had come bursting through the bushes past him at incredible speed.

He’d become even more enraged when he realized that the boy was carrying on his back, a bound Hyugaa soldier, one of the hunter team’s members to be exact.  If he’d been mad then, he’d far surpassed that when more then a dozen more Naruto’s had burst through the bushes to follow the first, each carrying another member of the squads he’d sent out, one had even gone so far as to stick his tongue out at him, at HIM the head of the most illustrious clan in Konoha.  He’d make the boy pay for his insolence.

He’d followed the clones, for that’s what he knew them to be, after the kage bunshin no jutsu was the blond ninja’s common card, one he used so often the technique was hardly considered forbidden anymore, to the Hokage building.  He knew they were headed to see Tsunade and he was going to show her just how angry he was at what was happening.

And now he stood, fuming before Tsunade as she interrogated one of the Naruto clones, his search and hunter squads were still sitting in the corner still bound, excluding one who seemed to be reading something within a sealed scroll to the Hokage. “Hokage-samma!  Explain the meaning of this immediately, why are my men in here tied up, why is that blasted demon brat back, and WHAT DID HE DO WITH MY DAUGHTER!?”  He yelled, he rarely lost his composure, but this was one exception, if he didn’t get Hinata and the demon inside her back soon… things could turn out quite unpleasant.

Tsunade continued to ignore him, focused entirely on what the clone, and one of his men were whispering in her ear.  He strained trying to hear what was being said, but succeeded only in hearing mumbles and murmurs.  This proceeded to make him even angrier and he couldn’t control the words that now exited his mouth.  “I know the demon brat did this, THAT KYUUBI BASTARD, HE”S NOTHING LIKE HIS FATHER AND DESERVES NOTHING BUT DEATH, AS SOON AS HE GETS BACK HE”S AS GOOD AS D~” his screaming rant was interrupted by some of the coldest words he’d ever heard, his last remark about Naruto and his father had struck a cord with Tsunade, and the killing intent he felt emanating from her would have stopped him mid sentence even if her words had not.

“Hiashi I promise you that if you finish that sentence or if you even begin to repeat it again in my presence that not even your entire clan would be able to protect you.”  The words uttered from the mouth of the Hokage were spoken with such confidence and conviction that Hiashi wondered if anyone, despite there tales, had truly seen Tsunade release her anger, at this moment he was sure if he spoke like he had again she would kill him.

He was about to demand to know what was going on but before he could even begin to speak Tsunade resumed talking.  “Hiashi as much as I hate to say it, we have bigger things to worry about then your little demon problem.”  The bluntness of her statement, the simple way she allowed him the knowledge that she knew exactly what was going on startled, and scared him.  He felt the hairs on the back of his neck raise as his nervousness heightened, if she knew, it meant that something had happened, something he doubted he was going to like.

“Before I even begin to get into a debate about that, I will tell you to prepare your entire clan… for war.”  If the last statement had been shocking, this one was far over the top.  Of all the things she could have said, she’d said war.

“W-what?” he asked, his voice low, war was something that he never wanted to see again, he’d fought in the tail end of the great shinobi war, and despite being one of the most well trained shinobi in the village, he still couldn’t forget some of the things that he’d witnessed.

“The Sound is preparing another invasion, this time with the help of our old rivals, Rock, and Cloud.  The attack will commence before the end of the month.”  Tsunade said grim faced her expression dark.  “Naruto and Hinata came across a group of sound jounin out in the woods, they dealt with them and the prisoners arrived earlier, this scroll suggests it was a scouting party sent out to look for possible weak points.”

Hiashi’s demeanour changed abruptly, he was still worried about the demon, but this presented another threat, one to his clan, and to Konoha itself.  Hiashi walked over to the second in command of the Hyugaa hunter team, he approached the captain first, but for some reason he was hardly conscious, at least mentally, he had a look of terror on his face and wouldn’t respond, Hiashi wondered what had befallen the commander but that could wait until later.  He gave the man directions to prepare the clan for war, and also to send word to the elder council on behalf of the Hyugaa that war was approaching.

“There Hokage-samma, things regarding the upcoming war will be taken care of, however there is still the issue of my daughter, and… what resides within her.”

Tsunade nodded, but before asking him on the matter she posed a question he did not expect. “Did you really plan on having Hinata receive the curse seal, did you do this realizing the fact that it could blind her, did you do this knowing the pain it would cause?” her voice was a sharp as any blade and Hiashi feared it’s wrath.

However despite his dear at what she might do to him he still responded truthfully, “yes.”  Tsunade waited for him to explain, the baleful glare she passed over him explaining to him that she’d better like his explanation of he’d pay for it.  “I was going to have the curse seal put on her for several reasons, first off was to disown her, I have no place for weaklings in my family, secondly was to make sure she felt the shame she brought us, and thirdly and by far the most important, was to keep her under control.  Inside Hinata… is sealed the Shichubi, another of the nine great Bijuu, if I had the seal placed on her I figured I could keep her under control, kill her if necessary to prevent any destruction the demon might have caused… not to mention to prevent her form ever telling anyone else about the demon, should she ever figure it out.  It had passed down through our family since for generations, as it is the reason we were able to develop the Byakugan.”

Hiashi could tell immediately that he’d given her the wrong answer, she seemed even angrier then before and Hiashi felt sick realizing that the thing most likely to feel the brunt of it… was him.

“Hinata knows, as does Naruto, Tenten, Neji, Lee, Sakura and Kakashi.  I don’t care if the Shichubi is sealed within Hinata, there’s apparently a lot more to the Bijuu then we knew, not to mention that Hinata, has… changed.   Her chakra has fused with that of the Shichubi she harbours; I know not why other then it is something along the lines of preventing her from going insane with bloodlust.  Also Hiashi, know that Naruto is also going to be undergoing the same changed, and that it augments them physically in ways that make them superior to normal humans.  Naruto was stronger then me before, with this new transformation he’ll reach levels such as only the fourth ever obtained, he’s pissed Hiashi, pissed for your treatment of Hinata… if I were you I would apologize, otherwise I cannot be responsible for what he might due to you.”  Hiashi didn’t like the sound of things, apparently that brat had become strong, but to rival the fourth?  He did not like the sounds of that at all.

“First off for dealing with this, I am removing Hinata from your clan, she shall no longer be considered part of your family despite being Hyugaa and is free from any restraints or control you have over her.  Secondly, I don’t want you or your clan revealing the fact that Hinata has a demon inside her, from what I’ve heard it’ll be pretty obvious, but I don’t want any of you revealing any details.  Thirdly, you are not allowed to deny her visiting privileges of either Neji, nor Hanabi, do you understand?”  This was not something Hiashi wanted, but the less details the public knew about the demon inside his daughter the better, so despite his wishes he wasn’t about to argue, after all he’d been trying to disown her all along anyway.

“I agree to these conditions, so long as nothing relating the Hyugaa clan and the demon is revealed.”  He said flatly, he was not unhappy with this last event, but the thought of war was still bothering him, not to mention Tsunade’s mention of Hinata’s physical change, if it was too drastic she would likely shame the Hyugaa clan regardless of whether or not she was a part of it, but there wasn’t much he could do about it.

“Then you are dismissed.”  Tsunade said waving him away, it was clear she no longer wanted to deal with him, and so, he left without another word.

Naruto walked in silence, all too aware of the young indigo haired, seven-tailed beauty walking beside him, her head rested on his shoulder.  He was thinking, though not about the war, not even what the villagers might think of him and Hinata when they returned, rather he was thinking of his relationship of Hinata and… Rhynn.  What was she thinking when she did that?  I mean I know she hasn’t been in her human for a long time, and has been sex deprived for at least seventeen years, but still… that was just weird.  Naruto hated to admit it, but he’d enjoyed what she’d tried to do to him, and knew that if he wasn’t in love with Hinata, he likely wouldn’t have been able to resist Rhynn’s charms.

But what was he supposed to do, she was in his mind, probably always would be, and she could bring him to her world whenever he slept, eventually he wouldn’t be able to resist or escape… and then what?  Would he be cheating on Hinata, he figured the answer was a pretty obvious yes, and then there was the issue of Shichubi.  He was lucky that Rhynn had apparently finally entered the stage where she could no longer speak with him; it was a good thing seeing as how if she hadn’t he likely would have lost his virginity in his mind, during the previous nights sleep.

Thrusting this thought from his mind another sunk in and took it’s place, he had only one day until his transformation, only one and he was worried about it.  He knew that chances are he’d be fine, but he didn’t want anyone else around when it happened, after all when Hinata had transformed, the chakra she’d released had burned anyone around her, it could have proved fatal for anyone caught in it’s midst.  Kyuubi, or Rhynn rather, was more powerful and Naruto figured the chakra he might release would be far more dangerous, he couldn’t allow any of his friends near him in the upcoming day.

“Are you feeling okay Naruto-kun?” a gentle voice at his side asked, the melodic feeling it had, quite enchanting.

“I’m alright Hinata, I’m just a little worried about what’s going to happen to me tomorrow, I need to keep you guys away from me until it completes, I don’t want any of you to get hurt.”  He said softly, he didn’t want to worry her too much.

Hinata hugged him, her tails wrapping around his waist as she comforted her love, she didn’t want him to worry, especially about everyone else, they already knew and when he worried about others he had a tendency to forget about himself.  Naruto looked about to say more but the sight of Konoha halted his words.

The gates loomed up before him, almost trying to discourage him from continuing further, he knew what was likely to happen when he and Hinata entered the village, and as much as he’d accepted this occurrence, it didn’t hurt him any less.

Slowly the party of seven strode into the village, Kakashi and Sakura in front, with Naruto and Hinata following flanked on each side by Neji, Lee and Tenten, each acting as a body guard.  The villagers gathered immediately upon hearing of the Hyugaa heiress’s return but when they saw what had happened to her a mix of emotions was released.  Many looked on in shock, others in pity, some even sympathetic, but most of them looked on with cold hateful eyes, not directed at Hinata, but rather at Naruto.  After all, what could possibly better explain her sudden shift in appearance then the idea that she was corrupted by the demon brat.  Hinata returned their cold gazes, she silently hoped that even one of them would make a move against her Naruto-kun; if they did then she would personally make sure they suffered for it.

The only optimistic part of their return was that although the majority of the gathered villagers expressed hate towards Naruto, many of the villagers had not bothered to gather at all, these simply looked a little shocked at Hinata’s new form before simply shaking their heads and returning to work.  These were those that had seen, or knew of Naruto proving himself to the village, thankfully these numbered almost as much as those that seemed to hate him.

The troop walked in silence towards the Hokage tower, they knew they would have a lot of explaining to do, but it was for the sake of Konoha.  They encountered no resistance when they arrived at the tower, apparently Tsunade had already announced that they would be arriving and the sentries merely stood aside when the troop arrived, indicating that they head immediately for the Hokage’s office.

Naruto entered first, ready to receive any blow the Hokage had prepared for him, he was surprised to see her looking at him with a sad look on her face, and sympathetic look in her eyes.  “None of the villagers did anything too terrible I hope?” she asked, and Naruto realized that she knew what it must have been like for him when he returned.  “None” he replied.

Then the rest of the shinobi entered and the situation was explained, excluding anything involving Hinata and Naruto, that was for them to explain and they’d decided to do it in public.  After the debriefing the shinobi up and departed, offering their good-byes to Hinata and Naruto as they left, leaving them alone to face Tsunade.

“Well do you two want to explain what on earth is going on with you two?” she asked softly, something Naruto was unaccustomed to.

“Well oba-chan…” he said trying to get a yell out of her, trying to get something familiar out of her, when he received nothing he continued, slightly nervous, “It’s all got to do with the Bijuu.  You see ever few years or whatever, they enter something called the fury, it’s a time when the Bijuu essentially lose their control and go on a rampage, consumed by their bloodlust.  This is the reason Kyuubi attacked the village seventeen years ago.  First off I’ll say this, Kyuubi is a she, her name is Rhynn and she is not evil, the only reason she did those things before was because of the fury.”  This was a surprise to Hinata as much as it was to Tsunade, Naruto had not yet told Hinata of his little encounter with Rhynn.  “I didn’t even know until recently because until the transformation she was stuck in her bestial form, the one you saw when she attacked Konoha.

“Well this certainly is news, I guess it’s fitting that Kyuubi, the most powerful of all demons is female”, Tsunade said feeling pride in her gender, “not to mention that she isn’t evil, its no wonder she’s never tried to break free from inside of you after all these years.  What I don’t yet know or understand is WHY these changes are beginning to happen to you two?”

“Simply Hokage-samma”, Hinata began, “the fury is upon us, and it will take place two days from now at midnight, on October 12th.  The reason me and Naruto-kun are going to… change, is to prevent us from loosing control just like the Bijuu do, most of the time during this time a hosts body merely takes on the appearance of whatever demon they harbour, entering equilibrium where they levels of chakra are equal.  But because Naruto and I have two of the most powerful demons, this would simply result in us becoming our demons.  To prevent this our bodies began fusing our chakra together with that of our demons, our rather our demons began the process, it permanently changes the body so as it’s better equipped to deal with the strain of using the hybrid chakra.  Naruto is set to change sometime towards the end of tomorrow, or early the day after before the fury begins.”

When Hinata finished Tsunade looked shocked, not only due to the information but also because Hinata had just said more all at once then she’d ever heard, and all of it had been without at single stutter.  She regarded the two closely and noticed how close they were to each other, normally Hinata would have been blushing fiercely, or feinting from the contact, but now she appeared perfectly at ease with it, as did Naruto.  Certainly the two had gotten closer during their time together, the question was how close.

“Alright well that explains a lot, but unfortunately I can’t allow you two to lie around while you transform Naruto, I need you two to head to the lake country to request aid from the Mizukage (right one or no?) there.”

Naruto and Hinata looked at each other before looking back at Tsunade, it was clear that they’d accepted the mission, both wanted to protect the village, even if that meant putting it above themselves.

“Alright, it’s an A-rank mission due to it’s importance, but before you go, do you two know anyway to hide your appearances, a henge perhaps?”  She had to ask, after all, if Naruto and Hinata tried to enter the lake country looking like Hinata currently did, things would quickly become complicated.

“No Tsunade, nothing that lasts long enough, not to mention that as soon as I use chakra my… special qualities reveal themselves, however I think we should be okay, we can use a henge while we’re there, after all we won’t bet here long right?”

“No you won’t but still… I would have preferred to find someway to hide those features but I guess it can’t be helped, they will likely accept Naruto anyway, after all they named the bridge that was built after you, you’re considered a hero.”  This surprised Naruto and he blanked out a second remembering his memories.

When he finally returned to reality Tsunade was still looking at him which was slightly unnerving.  “Why are you staring at me like that Baa-chan?” he asked nervously.

When Tsunade smiled mischievously he filled with fear… it was rarely a good thing where he was concerned.  “Nothing Naruto, just imagining you with tails and ears like Hinata’s, I think you’ll look pretty cute.”  This caused Naruto to blush, Hinata had hinted at much the same and the fact that women seemed to think this about him was not something he was used to.
