Both of those frustrate me as a creator Because both I wish I could redo from scratch ))

Oh well... I never was much of a comics fan.
Most probably I will just screw up their designs.
And I have a whole folder of stuff I want to sculpt and have no time to do so

I saw it, it's a good idea to take inspiration from humorous or cute illustrations! it's a good way to try different styles!
I like work from references too, I just try to make the final ressult as faithful as possible from the model, I'm not very artistic

That's pretty much how everypony should start anyway. If you do it long enough you will find your style naturally.
