Hello guys, I'm extremely excited to share this illustration with all of you today. Looks familiar? That's right! I discovered the real-life underwater train track scene from Spirited Away. 👻🛤Canvas Size:160x200px.
A few days ago, while scrolling through Instagram, I came across a reel of this location from @gan.iwaiwa ‘saccount. I highly recommend checking out this amazing account that features a lot of Japanese landscapes. Lake Shikaribetsu is situated in the Tokachi subprefecture of Eastern Hokkaido, Japan. To perfect this illustration, I had to do some further digging on Pinterest to find the proper reference. For those who are wondering, these "train tracks" are actually used as a tool for reeling tourist boats back to shore during the winter, or at least that's what I read in an article🤪
In this illustration, I played around with a lot of layer transparency to create the effect of a crystal-clear lake while still maintaining the visuals of the submerged tracks. I added more details to the tracks themselves and reduced the texture in the surroundings to create contrast. It was a challenging yet satisfying experience to create something as complex as this. The end result was rewarding, and I am extremely pleased with it!
