Good God, do you even have any flesh on your body? Do you realize that your personality is more important to worry about than your physique?

Keyword being 'usually'. Some people are naturally skinny just as some naturally aren't.

I'm telling her that she's not taking good enough care of her body. Would you rather she was so dangerously thin that she was as thin as Glad Wrap? How in the world did it be considered sexy to be so skinny your ribs are showing? I hope you realize that girls like that are victims of the notoriously near-fatal bulimia nervosa.

I am model, fitness trainer, and a nerd just like most of this site, but this what you posted. Bullshit! She is not overly skinny, she is fit, she hits the gym, and she probably eats a GREAT HEALTHY DIET! She is not overly bony anywhere, and she is a beautiful model. Fact you're claiming that she "has" an eating disorder is horse shit.

That's just the pose, even me, with your back arched like that you will see the definition of ribs through the skin. Also, you can see muscle definition, and if she had an eating disorder she'd be thinner elsewhere (hips, ankles, neck, elbows) she looks to have a healthy and full diet.

I'm so happy you pointed that out, because I was thinking the exact same thing. I kept looking at these comments, then to the picture thinking 'does anyone see the muscles in her legs and ankles?' It's also hard to tell how tall she is, which also has a large factor on someones BMI. I believe she looks healthy, and someone with an eating disordered doesn't usually like how they look to themselves. So why have a picture done with hardly anything on? Clearly, she doesn't have low self-esteem and is very confident in herself. Another plus that goes along with a healthy and fun work out/diet. : )

Dude, she does take care of her body. She's not anorexian. Do you know that if you starve it's easier to burn muscle mass than fat, do you? You can see by her arms and legs that she works out. Anorexian ppl CANT build lean muscles.
People just can born that lucky, so if you are not like Iggy Pop just get over it.
The exposition that this selected number of ppl are the beauty ideal is the real problem.

I can admit she is very VERY skinny. and i never said i would "rather she was so dangerously thin that she was as thin as Glad Wrap." I do realize that being so skinny leads to disastrous effects.
However, what I was mainly poking at was the "Do you realize that your personality is more important to worry about than your physique?"
That has nothing to do with the physique of her body. You're mostly implying that she's a bad person for being skinny. Do you know this girl? Did you ever talk to her?
Which makes it in turn ironic that you are speaking as if i'm the ignorant one ^_^. Being concerned for her health is one thing, implying that she has a bad personality when you don't even KNOW her is another.

You don't even know the sort of things I went through trying to be skinnier.
I was constantly anxious, afraid to eat almost anything, and even thought I'd never get anywhere. Oh I got somewhere alright, somewhere I wasn't safe to be in.
Think back to ancient times, in cultures like in Africa or Greece. The Greeks believed that no matter what body type you had anybody could be beautiful. In Africa the most attractive women were the ones with the biggest butts and/or bellies. They cared only about their capacity for childbirth, not weather or not they looked like Playboy Bunnies.
And I'm sorry if I made it sound like you'd rather she had Glad Wrap skin, I was simply asking if that's what you'd rather she looked like.

No, I don't (i never said i did), but do you HONESTLY know what she's like? Not everyone who's skinny was as anxious as you are.
Lol, you keep on going off topic. The entire point of what i said is that just because she's skinny doesn't mean you can judge her as a person.
Alright, i'm done. you like to go too off topic to try and validate your point .

So because you are jealous of her being naturally thin, you peg her as Anorexic and Bulimic?
She could be like my sister, who eats like a horse and drinks protein shakes just to stay at 120 Lb.
Learn to love yourself for who you are and stop being a bitch about a skinny girl just because you think she is prettier than you.

Her breasts may be fake... But everything is beautiful. Whether you are thin or larger. She may be perpetuating those unrealistic expectations... b ut slowly those are crumbling. If she had that pretty face and were a larger girl, we would not be having this conversation. So why do we have to have it all... IF every thing is beautiful in its own unique way

YesImDeadpool In reply to Vulpine-Designs [2011-10-15 13:10:02 +0000 UTC]
That's thing. I wish she was a larger girl so that she wouldn't be perpetuating unrealistic expectations, even if those are crumbling as you say.
Another thing is not everybody realizes that everything is beautiful in it's own way. We live in an age where women are expected to be nothing but skin and bones, and beauty and brains aren't expected to mix.

Wow ignorant. I'm THINNER than the girl in the picture, and I eat. Ribs, especially when you're posed this woman, should show. Fuck. I went through so much bullying in high school because people would always call me anorexic, bulimic, etc. I get so pissed when I see ignorant fucks such as yourself come to a snap judgement whenever they see somebody who is naturally thin. How would you feel if somebody walked up to you, and said "hey fatass, stop shoving twinkies down your throat and lose some weight! Obesity is unhealthy!". Just because the girl in this picture is thin, does NOT mean you have the right judge so quickly. Go ahead and google "eating disorders". Maybe you'll get an idea what real eating disorders look like. And next time, don't be so quick to judge others.

YesImDeadpool In reply to InvaderLolwut [2011-10-14 12:30:00 +0000 UTC]
Says the person who just used "Lose some weight!" as an example to somebody he's never even seen in real life. I'm not trying to lose weight because somebody told me to, I'm doing it because I understand the risks of heart failure and diabetes.
Ribs should show you say? Sure, if you're unaware that you'd fall asleep on your stomach one night only to hear something creaking, and it's not your bed.
This is the body type that so many girls struggle to get in high school because of peer pressure, and from the unreasonable expectations presented in fashion magazines. Guess what? Many of them never get there, and those who do are completely screwed over. Then people keep telling them "Put that hamburger down." or "No cake for you." even when they gain a pound or 2. Coming from one's spouse makes it even worse.
Maybe I have been a little quick to judge others, but I'm going by what I know is dangerous, based on personal experience.

InvaderLolwut In reply to YesImDeadpool [2011-10-14 17:28:58 +0000 UTC]
Fyi I'm female despite what my profile says. Anyways, you obviously have never seen somebody who is naturally thin. And, even if somebody isn't naturally thin, yes, ribs really should show. Also, ribs don't "creak" lol. I'm assuming you haven't seen ribs at all, so it must be a shock to you. My ribs protrude when I'm standing up normally, my thighs have about 3 inches of space and only my knees touch, my hip bones show, I can touch my fingers around my ankle. And you know what? I just had three Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches along with a brownie and milk about 30 minutes ago. How? THIS IS JUST HOW MY BODY WORKS. People who strive to have my body type are at their own fault. People have to understand that this isn't something you can have by dieting. My whole family is like this. We don't exercise at all, we eat more than we should. If it wasn't for my body type, I would be OBESE. And because of that, I don't just go around and criticize others based on their body. Because everybody is different. My body type is not unhealthy because it is natural, neither are other natural body types. You need to get it through your head that just because somebody looks different doesn't mean you can insult them. That's something we all learned in kindergarten, and sadly some people haven't retained that.
Let me tell you something. Whenever I go to a restaurant, and I actually can't finish all of my food because I am so full, I always get nasty glares and comments from people. Whenever I order a salad with my food, the same thing happens. I can't go anywhere without being judged. My teachers, school nurses, even close friends judged me on my weight. I never dated in high school because guys would always assume I had some kind of problem and so they would avoid me. I felt alone, all because people were so shut-off to the idea of my body type being healthy. Would it be "right" for somebody who is overweight to go through the same bullying I've been through? No. Hell no.
Also, what "personal experience" could you have possibly had that made you think it was right to insult people like this? Just so you know, humans don't NEED fat. What you need is muscle. Fat is something that, millions of years ago, was used as a "last resort" if you began to starve or if you lived in a cold climate. We aren't cavemen, we have things called clothes and food. You should be able to keep off ALL of your fat, as long as you aren't downing processed foods your whole life. You can eat craploads of food and be healthy too.

Ribs should show in that kind of postition, if you are as thin as she is. If they woudln't be showing, she would have something seriously wrong with her ribcage.
And maybe this is new to you, but people can be naturally thin. It's not always a cause of an eating disorder or serious dieting or peer pressure, for fucks sake.

I'm saying people who aren't naturally thing have no chance of becoming thin, because it's getting increasingly difficult for people to watch what they eat. Sure there's bound to be plenty of fruit for all of us at the local grocery store, but how do we know it's not full of pesticides? Correct me if I'm wrong about pesticide use.

Gemdrop In reply to YesImDeadpool [2011-10-14 14:04:08 +0000 UTC]
Have no chance of becoming thin? The key is actually not to become fat in the first place. You cant get thin by just eating healthy, you also need to exersice. And I don't know about pesticides.

Because I know what anorexia looks like. Yes, there is a SLIM chance that this person could be in the beginning stages of anorexia (as in just thinking about it), but that really isn't my point. I just want people to think that maybe, just maybe, calling somebody "disgusting" or "stick-like" can be taken as an insult and they shouldn't be so quick to judge. I don't see hateful comments on pictures of people that are somewhat overweight. Ever.
