I don't think it's necessarily the pose, it's the way her outfit sits on her body. It gives an awkward perception of her proportions, and it makes her look all disjointed, when she's definitely not.

It's a total mindscrew where the shadows fall and you really have to battle your mind's eye at filling in the gaps to see what's really there. Just an optical illusion, is all!

Im actually a fan of the awkwardness of the pose. good composition, nice work.
