I dont think you realise how good that photo is!, by the sounds of it your dad is a photographer for a living is he?, he should be though!, thats one of the best shots ive ever seen!, you learn everything he knows now ok!!!?? heh

I'd like to know, too....How, when, and where??? (Especially how and where...the city is beautiful.). I've tried to photograph Atlanta at night a dozen times with and without tripod, with and without timer, and none of my shots look this good.
The color balance is perfect and so is the timing.

This shot was taken in Tokyo about three months ago, i am not quite sure what they were celebrating, but i decided to go up to the top of my hotel with my father and take some shots, because i had been planning to take some more skyline shots with my usual camera (digi). My dad does photography as a hobbie and he said he would join me, he brought up his nikon SLR, f100 i think it is, anyway he was taking shots and i was taking shots..then the fireworks started and i commented on how i wish i could get them in a decent shot, cause i had been trying. So he showed me his SLR (he brought up his tripod) and tried to teach me some shit with it but i didnt really pay attention hehe. He lined it up for me and told me when to click..and we did that a heap of times over and just recently he showed me how they came out after he fucked around with them in his darkroom for a bit..and this one came out beautifully. My dad and i have made dates for when he is going to teach me the ins and outs of SLR, he recently donated me one of his older SLR cameras. Anyway, sorry i can't be more specific.

What a lovely photo you have taken. I really really love the fireworks and the way they have come out. And the city is just brilliant, with the towering spike adding to the overall look as well
Could you give me some more info on the exif details? How do you get the fireworks to come out like that? I assume its quite long as you get a whole lot of fireworks in the one shot?
