I'm taking requests up at the Vinculum (LoZ forum), and the first two were Nayru and Dark Link. So, be expecting LOTS of Zelda fanart soon...EDIT: It doesn't look like I changed anything, but I added some shading for perspective's sake.
EDIT (18 June, 2005): Added LOTS of fun stuff to it. I think it looks much better now, and more Water Temple-y.

I always considered this guy much more dangerous than most of the boss monsters I faced in the game. Then again, I always fight him using the Master Sword, not pulling out another weapon and cheap my way out. I want to prove I'm the better swordsman. But the difficult fight he puts up isn't why he's dangerous.
Some people believe that Dark Link is Link's negative emotions given form when he took hold of the Master Sword, purifying him into a pure good without fear, anger, or hate...except that's never happened before or been needed to wield the Master Sword. All that's needed is the Triforce of Courage, which only someone who was willing to face the dangers despite their fears would possess. So, being angry and holding a grudge, against say Mido who was a complete jerk and deserves a punch to the face, would never hold Link back from wielding the Master Sword. Link wields the Master Sword and the Triforce of Courage because he's selfless, facing the dangers despite the risks, pushing past any fears he would have, making him the Hero of Time.
So who would Dark Link be except perhaps Link's opposite: the Scourge of Time, who wields not the Triforce of Courage, but the Triforce of Power, being selfish and fearful, seeking power so that he can no longer be afraid. Dark wouldn't face the monsters because he pushed past his fears, but because he believed he was more powerful and thus had nothing to be afraid of (a difference of pride and ego instead of nobility). Dark Link is not Link's negative emotions and feelings given form, but Link from another version of Hyrule, another timeline if you will where Link sided with his negative emotions and darker impulses instead of holding to his selfless nature. Dark Link is a reflection of Link if he had gone down another path. And the placement of this fight at the Water Temple is appropriate because water is all about reflections, showing yourself, but also showing what is beyond.
So, considering this as Dark Link's origins, it raises the serious concern of how Dark Link is able to wield his timeline's version of the Master Sword, breaking the rule that it could only ever be used by someone who possessed the Triforce of Courage. This is why Dark Link is so dangerous to me, as now he wields not just the most powerful weapon in the LoZ universe, but also has the raw power to virtually make himself a god. Just remember what Gannondorf did in OoT; all he had was the Triforce of Power and he turned all the lands of Hyrule into THAT. Imagine what Dark Link can do, able to do that, plus wielding the Master Sword and the power of time.
