I was with the two checking the border. Up to that point, it was quiet, so there wasn't anything suspicious. But then came the yowls and hollers of a fight going on. Kricket, she was very inclined to go look, even though it didn't really sound like anything specific. It easily could have been a Rogue and an Empire Cat fighting each other. We were technically then outside our territory, so... I didn't see a place for us to get involved. I wish I spoke up, but... instead I followed. Doe seemed to hang back a bit. I wonder if I did as well she would have held her place for a just a second. That would made the difference of her being here now. I'm not happy about following her without any question... I should have questioned her on and I didn't. I feel responsible for it.
It turned out to be Ice Empire, and Hunters, fighting each other. Three of the Hunters I knew, the fourth one, probably an apprentice, a rookie, I didn't know, but easily able to be picked from a crowd with that pelt of theirs. Kricket also recognized one of the Hunters, the caracal Pine. The Huntress was about to... she was about to be killed by one of Ice cats, a brown lynx of sorts, had her pinned. He went down to deliver a fatal bite...
I couldn't believe I saw after it though...
Kricket... she ran forward, and died... for the hunter... I rushed out right as it happened, Kricket flying between the lynx and caracal, smashing into a tree, dropping limp, there was no mistaking from the blood on the brown lynx's face and her throat what happened. She was already gone it was in her face... Why the hell did she do that? After everything... Kricket gave her life, for a Massilian Hunter. You're answer is as good as mine as to why, Kodi.

The snow leopard was silent. I really didn't know how he was reacting to this. "I know that there are some here that would find that hard to believe, perhaps not believe it entirely." Kodi spoke, his tone feeling slightly unsure on how he was going to word what he was trying to say. I stayed quiet, he wasn't wrong. There were some, if not many that to this day held no trust of me. Despite half a year rolling around. If I had plan doing something stupid, I would have already done it. I feel I have made a fool of myself many times already, but that's beside the point. "Frankly, part myself doesn't want to believe it... your eyes. Give away your words, Rowen." he said, nodding slightly, "and I can see the grief and confusion." his eyes locked with mine.
I felt stoic, numb almost. Betrayed. The eyes were a difficult thing to mask, but then again, I had nothing to mask, I couldn't find the words to try and logic why she did what she did, other than blood line... if anything, it was a harsh, flipped self reflection of myself. Kodiak dipped his head a hair, believing that was something I wouldn't lie about, plus Doe was there and witnessed it too. I had worked with Doe far more than once, the apprentice was everything but a liar. Her gaze enforced my words. Kodiak, looked at Doe. "You're free to go about your duties Doe." he spoke softly, "can you get Boudica, and Kricket's kids, and Locket. Have them wait outside until I call them in." Doe shakily nodded, and left the den.
It was eerily silent after that. "Do you think Boudica will believe the tale?" the snow leopard asked of me. My eyes looked at him, drifting off the entrance, and lowly spoke, losing eye contact with him. "Do you think she will?" I answered with a question. Kodi replied back without a delay, "I asked you. Do you." the way the leader replied there. It stung, as if trust I had gained over the last six months, something I had to fight to get, was thinned with a metal glaive. "I wouldn't lie about anything of the sort!" I snapped, where Kodi's gaze narrowed a bit as I glared at him. He... this was a test... "It's the only solid information she will have, she'd have to even if she didn't want to." I stated calmer, again losing eye contact with Kodiak.
"So how do you think she will respond to it." he asked, in a firmer tone. He was trying to push me over emotionally. It showed why he was in charge. He wasn't scared to ask and push one's comfort and limits. "I don't know. I hardly know her." I stated, that was the best I could get myself to say. "You know how she'd respond." Kodi responded, again pushing my extent a bit further. I didn't say anything after that. I was going to wait for her to show up. See if I did know or not.

A few minutes passed and the pie balded feline entered the den, seeing Kodi and myself. She instantly, she knew something was up before she entered. She glanced out of the den and back, seeing the three outside, everyone looking confused and uneasy. It quickly became clear in the Silver's eyes. Kricket... she looked right at me. "I am going to skip over the repeat of words, I don't need to hear what I already know." her voice instantly showing pain, but well suppressed. "You already know my next question, what's it going to be." I looked at her. I hated that they both did this. But I was even more certain what the question was. My gaze glanced at Kodiak, who was in the same manner, expectant.
"Arranging the entertainment." I affirmed. "I need to be the one to tell them though..." my head flicked at the three that waited outside, changing the topic back a step for the moment, "I was the one who could have done something and wasn't fast enough." I stood up to my paws and began to walk toward those who just lost someone they now had to struggle to live without.

That night I left camp quietly. I made sure I wasn't followed, and spent the next twelve hours walking alone. I had told Kodiak the idea I had... I was surprised he agreed to it. It was crazy, but hey, it would set an example. That was the goal... I couldn't help but feel uneasy. Hell, uneasy was too mild to say how I felt. I don't think I've felt more numb in my life. If anything, above everything, being passively suicidal was a line that toyed in my brain. Only now it felt more relayed into an active search. Perhaps it would happen, perhaps it wouldn't. Either I fail. Or I don't. I want to say I am loyal here. After what just happened. That's going to be more difficult to live up too than the ease it would be to look for a way out.
