The red bobcat darted through the streets. He took turn at random. It really didn't matter anymore, did it? He was lost either way and didn't want to go back to the Tribune Gardens. He'd have to sit there all day and wait for Mother, though she wasn't really coming to get him anymore. He had to walk home with someone else each time. He was looking forward to being an apprentice, so he didn't have to go home if he didn't want to. Basilius stood in another dead end, but his tears were gone now. In its place showed his fury which he directed at the red collar on his neck. It had been a gift from Mother. And it was a gift he no longer wanted. She's given him many things because she felt bad. For being a failure, for lying to him. It infuriated him to think about it. She tried to keep me happy with gifts. Gifts! Did she not know what I really wanted? Did she even care? Did she really think that gifts would cover the many times she was absent. The important times? Mother hadn't been home the day Maribel had kicked me in the stomach and when I fell off the training course. No! I had to sit at home and deal with it on my own because she couldn't. She never was able to. If Basilius could bet, then he'dve bet she wouldn't be there when he was named an apprentice. That idea in particular elicited a snarl from him as he began to angrily tear and his collar.
"I don't need this stupid collar! I don't need to cry! I don't need you Mother!" He tried his best to rip the fabric, but it wasn't working very well.
Basilius began clawing at the collar with reckless abandon. He didn't care that he was clawing himself in the process. This collar had got to go. And then with a harsh tug, the fabric snapped in two - falling from him. Basilius glared down at what was once a beautiful gift. “I don’t need any of this.” He spat, turning away from his collar and leaving the alley. He didn’t need anyone.

Following him silently, Herne continued to watch. The red cat pretty viciously attacked the collar around his own neck, until it snapped off, with a decent sound of it snapping as well. He watched Basilius wrap the corner, and hopped down where the collar was left.
“... a mother can’t be one if she’s never around...” he let out, looking at the collar, and then to where Basilius disappeared to.
Having your mother taken is one thing… but having one that was never there, yet seen daily… seemed like the deeper knife.
“Maybe after you’re an apprentice… she will make up for it,” the words were lipped from his face, and he picked up the collar pieces, and hopped back on the roof-top, to keep an eye on the cub… just to be sure he didn’t wind up dead.

Alright... so... Basilius breaks the collar his mother had given him as a gift. Pretty well saying he hates her, wants nothing to do with her. Cutting all ties.
Herne from seeing Basilius the first time, knew something was off, and preceeded to find out what... (Personally I am not too thrilled with that... I mean seriously. Herne!? Persistent jerk.) Not that Bas behaving any better...

Only good can come from that. Oy vey.
So it boiled down to Bas felling forgotten by his mother and stuff about his brother getting killed, his sister going missing/caught by Empire Cats... Herne honestly regretting what he just caused to unfold. time to release some Empire Cats now I am seriously thinking Herne is crazy right now.

So I am still... not sure what to think on this event...
