You did great! If you're having issues with getting a program due to money, just use Sai, it's free and still a very good program.
Here's the DL link if you're interested [link]

Holy crap this is awesome! Keep this up! I have maybe three things for improvement. First, I do watch adventure time so this is not just spouting lies. Marceline has an unhealthy tinge to her skin, but the skin is not purple. Second, for something like this, you shouldn't use so much gradient. Mostly because it's harder to see shading, or shadows. And third, there are two things you can do with the eyes; The first is to add shine to them, and not have them completely red, or pink(Im using the drawing as a reference). That's one idea. The second idea, is that you need some way of getting a pupil (as in eye, pun intended) across, because the iris is actually a small part of the eye, even in manga. In this type of eye, you should add a layer of darker colour as shading, and then put a black dot in each eye, as the pupil. In google, search up "Fullmetal Alchemist", and the style of eye that the characters are drawn with, have what I kinda described, but not well. Other than that, this is wonderfully drawn, and I love the way there is a slight tinge of pink in Marceline's cheek. Keep up the good work!

awe, thank you!~ & another thank you for the critiques! (they are quite helpful) I do understand what you mean, but i'm trying to save up some money to buy an actual program, haha. i'm just kind of fooling around right now using a photo editing program (which is why gradient blur is the only possible type of shading i can do for now -sobsob- but again, thanks!~^^

Hey, no problem! If you're on a mac, you should get sketchbook essentials from the app store. It's free, I just uploaded something yesterday that I created using it. The real version is probably like 26.99, but it's worth it. I unfortunatly am broke on the app store, but once I get a card, I'll be buying it. I can show you a sped up video of how it works, if you want. It is of a print that I uploaded, "The Creator".
