NO NOT THE SONG.these birds give eachother fish and stuff, and if the other accepts it they will be their mate.
ROMANTIC, RIGHT?
and hence another concentration was born!
this on took forever though because i was stupid and cut and glued the paper AROUND the birds instead of like, gluing them onto a thing that already had the newspaper because it would have messed them up.
BUT HERE WE GO ANYWAY.
by the way the hearts and flower-thing are collage~

anyhow, yeah.
i like the newspaper background, though i see no correlation between that and the birds... take birds's nest materials for the background and it'd make more sense. but then that's just me.
and i suggest a more dramatic shading on the birds... and more textures. use a light grey and gently shade the outsides of the down on their bellies, and a slightly darker shade to outline the feathers on the wings, using the lighter grey to flesh out the insides
also the beaks and legs look a liiiiitle off... then again i've never drawn birds before, but it doesn't take a bird-artist to critique a bird
also, maybe i'm just being nit-picky, but the speech bubbles seem a little... cliched. i like the ideas of hearts, but making them speech bubbles is kind of much.
and did you say that thing in the bird's mouth is a fish or a flower? cuz it doesn't really look like either, to be honest... if it's a fish, first off shape it a bit more like a fish and color scales and such... but if it's a flower, do individual petals and highlights n' stuff...

yeah, i think that the main reason i chose newspaper was because it's black and white, like the birds, and wanted to really focus on the flower and hearts there. but, nest materials might be interesting, too.
yes, i definitely needed help with my charcoal shading and textures! in the reference photos i had the feathers on these particular birds looked so smooth that i was a little nervous to attempt it... i'll have to practice feathers, then. and yes the legs! that was actually my biggest problem, but no one seemed to catch on to it but you! i could definitely do with studying more pictures of that particular species' of birds' feet.
yeees, me and my art teacher had a big discussion on how not to make things seem too cliche or too much, and i thought hard about whether to include them. you think it would look better without them?
it is a flower, although i agree it doesn't look much like one. it was collaged with little magazine bits. i was practicing with it, trying to mess with the different shades although it didn't seem to turn out that well.

even though i am going for art therapy and my own art will not be the focus of my career, i still want to improve it! so i really appreciate it!
