Description
Using Omnimo 4Made a similar layout like last time, with a couple of different panels. Also added some extras like the clock and the sidebar, wondering if I should include it in Omnimo in the next update.
What do you think?
P.S. Did you know that in Omnimo 4 you can customize the color of each panel individually? It's true! Just open the style gallery and select individual panel color.

The sidebar can be found in extras gallery (text items page 2), you can see your minimized windows in your... taskbar? Omnimo is designed to be used with taskbar.

I think it would look better if you removed the black bar on the right and made the entire screen the windows panel. I would then make one of the icons below your xbox live panel the start menu for windows. That would be schweet!

it would be rather interesting if it was possible use this as a real start menu or at least make it all pop up as the start menu by using some type of shortcut

Bleh, you manage to make this layout look so nice. I wanted to do this with my new computer but I just couldn't find a setup that made me happy. I tried disabling the taskbar via ObjectDock, edited the big "Start" to open the start menu, made the small user icon open the user folder, and of course rearranged things, but it felt off. Many of the panels didn't feel useful - especially if they were going to be obscured behind a maximised window (and I had no visible status icon area).
Mainly it comes down to usability. Some of them would've been super useful if slightly altered - i.e. a panel that linked to Thunderbird rather than Gmail, and a weather app that gave the correct weather... (I live in NZ. It would be great if I could specify a different server but I'm not confident in my Rainmeter editing abilities.) Outside your realm, I could have the taskbar (disabled) at the top of the screen - to seem like the "Start" was linked to it - and a dock at the bottom, but it was clunky.
... when I think about it, a button to pop up all the content to the front of the screen, plus a transparent bg to help visibility/focus, and be able to hide it on mouse-out ignoring the bg, would probably make this excellent. I wouldn't have to worry about that battery meter being hidden or something similar. And I imagine it'd look stylish~.
Wow I rambled there.

I'm highly against hiding the taskbar, as it's a epic useability compromise. If you have the right theme and/or aero colorization Omnimo can look fine with it.
As for other modules, well, not much can be done here. There are no plugins that work with Thunderbird, and only weather.com seems to not dislike rainmeter so much...

I understand you being against hiding the taskbar, I was just being finicky about wanting my icons at the bottom of the screen but the menu at the top with the Start object.
I need to stop attempting to make my desktop just the way I want it. I'm not geeky enough to fill in the gaps.
The weather widget (or whatever they're called) is just checking RSS isn't it? So if that can be sorted, and the regexp modified to find the right bits of information, the weather box could display whatever?

would it ever be possible to get the panels to scroll across the screen like the real metro ui dose so that we can have more panals on the desktop with out taking up all the visual space, i have 4,000 wallpapers on a slideshow for the wallpaper so i dont want to hide too much of the wallpaper space. the ipad skin for rainmeter dose something similar for its slide bar but that's just moving one panal. oh and it gose with out saying omnimo is amazing and i cant wait to see whats still in store

Can't believe I missed the individual panel colour, I was editing the skin's .ini files manually...
Good to know it exists, great work with Omnimo 4.
