Description Snow Leopard startup for Vista

Larger preview: [link]

CREATED BY: balderoine and fediafedia

This release contains 32-bit software only.

Includes:

Startup animation
New startup sound (it's awesome)
New login screen
New spinny wheel thing

Notice: There is only one imageres.dll file because it works on both SP1 and SP2 and probably even SP0 considering it's version number. Authui, however, not. There are 2 authui files included. For SP1 and SP2

Installation

If you dont have take ownership reg installed, you should do that first. It makes any file replacement operations easier.

1. Take ownership of imageres.dll and authui.dll in C:\windows\system32.
2. Rename both files to something like imageres1.dll and authui1,dll
3. Copy the new files from this folder to system32. Reboot.

These files were tested on 32-bit editions of vista SP1 and SP2.

Use at your own risk, no warranty is included or will be provided if you messup.

Enjoy this release!

Do you have like this good detailed explanation of how to replace system32 files. Cause everytime i do so and i do exactly what it says i should do my whole computer crashes and i can't put the other system32.dll file in my folder. Cos the moment i change my System32.dll file to System32.dll.realone for example i can't put any other file in it anymore, then it just keeps giving me messages like "Can't fine systerm32.dll" if you get what i mean.

There is no such thing as system32.dll

Look, if you don't know what you're doing, better not risk breaking your computer...

pff i mean the browseui.dll file. Same thing but then with this file.

i don't know how to replace it cause whenever i take control, rename the file and then try the paste the new one in the system32 map it won't work

Ok. Here's what I do for taking ownership. I feel this will help you just as good a video tutorial would. and the rest of the instrunctions are on the description. Assuming You know the basics on finding the correct folder and file and the ability to copy and paste from one window to another for increased chances of sucess.
1st one file at the time. Right click on it. select properties. on top of the pop up window click on the security Tab. click on the Advanced button. on the top of the pop up window click on the Owner Tab. Click on Edit Button. on the pop up window select your user name, the icon with the single person. Click Apply. On the security pop up window you get the message of acknolegdment you've succesfully taken ownership and need to click it ok then one by one Ok all the previous pop up windows until you're all closed out of the file's properties dialog boxes.
2ndly select that file again and right click on it, select properties, select security tab, click on Edit this time. select your account from the list, it will begin with the word users(accountname\users). now look at the check boxes section and focus on allow column. check mark the full control row's allow check box. Hit apply button. click oK. then ok to exit properties dialog box. Now rename the file. and if you want to you can rename the extension. either way remember\/write down that name for your computers sake. that will make it easy to find and undo the changes in case this new customization does not work for you. and also you may need to patch your system first with a patch program which requires reboot before any of this. some how you need to do this first and hopefully you read this whole message. good luck!

Yep it stopped working in the middle of installation (Vista 32bit).

Stuffed up my PC.
I used system restore because the STP 1.5 did not install STP Control Panel.

if you renamed a file and cant do anything that requires admin access.
start the pc in safety mode press and hold the F8 key as your computer restarts.
You need to press F8 before the Windows logo appears.
select Advanced Boot Options use the arrow keys to highlight the safe mode option.
og on to your computer with a user account that has administrator rights.
rename the file back to the orginal name and restart

This is probably a stupid noob question, but how do you find out what bit your system is?

fediaFedia In reply to All-These-Kiwis [2010-07-18 13:44:44 +0000 UTC]

Look in system properties, but if you don't know even that, I strongly advise against using this.

ohh...and wait..i forgot..I think XP can have an animated boot screen too.Because I installed once Flykite OS on my pc,and boot screen had that spining wheel which really spins and thats means is animated.

fediaFedia In reply to SuperStar86 [2009-10-24 11:26:18 +0000 UTC]

It can't be, bootscreen on XP cant be animated, ever, you're probably using a animated login

If you want constant heating problems due to lack of ventilation chose the MBP, but it's an advantage since you can cook an egg on it .
But if you want to buy a overpriced desktop computer, chose the iMac.
