Description
Hi there,This is another concept for my book project The CrowsΒ΄ Parliament. As you can see is an homage to Kenneth Grahame's The Wind in the Willows and the wonderful art of Arthur Rackham. In my book some of the characters of Graham's book (and from other victorian child book classics) appear in a very different and pop-surrealistic way. I hope you like it.
Done in Photoshop CS3 with a Wacom Cintiq 12WX.I'll post the process and some details in my blog: [link]
Comments and critics are most welcome, thanks

Arthur Rackham's art is always very inspiring, I love his illustration. The horned man in the back is particularly "Rackham" looking, though more surreal as you mentioned in your artist's comment.
I like your sepia color palate as well and all of the interesting detailing.

The goat-man is the Greek god Pan, who was the god of forests and mountains, and the protector of animals. He appears in chapter 7 of TWITW.

You're welcome...the artist was Ernest Shepard, who also illustrated the Winnie-the-Pooh books.

oh i see, i love the old winnie pictures... know them for a long time...
my mother stayed in england for two years after the war as an au-pair girl... she learned a lot and brought some books with her. from that i know winnie-the-pooh, the wind in the willows, watership down(although that came a little later) and the jungle books. some years ago i read them in english - very nice lecture...

Very nice. Texture repetition reminds me of the artichoke-ness of "Where the Wild Things Are."

I like that "old"feel in it.It looks a little like the artist and illustrator Hans Arnolds work.

Thanks for showing your process link. I couldn't get my wacom tablet to work right with my original CS photoshop, but now I'm encouraged to try it again with my new CS5. Plus, I enjoy all of your illustrations. That's a plus + plus.
