Early Work.In.Progress of my ongoing project made with Blender 3D, based on the fantastic Ryusuke Mita 's comedy-manga Dragon Half.Modelisation, rigging , weight paint are almost complete. I'll use "mapped" textures for the animation of her mouth and eyes with the "UV Warp" modifier...It took me forever to take and clean screenshots for her expression-map
( don't pay too much attention to her misplaced eyes: this is just a quick-test done on plane surfaces) I 'm looking for funny ideas to animate Mink ,so requests and suggestions for the cartoon are welcome ( spoiler: I may add few Guest-characters to spike the animation later )
I hope to complete this in few days, however I'm currently stuck with the node settings for material / Render Layers in order to get a nice "old-school anime" look ... so tips and advices would be really appreciated

Man you even got 2d face expressions set up. Nice. You should do some research on "Texture ramping" Its a method of getting sharp shadows and solid diffuse colors.

Your works are really inspiring for me, I wish i could make such renders somedays
In fact I'm learning Blender as an alternative to Adobe's Flash ( really frustrating to use, and way too unaffordable for amateur's animation ), I 'm not really interested by photo-realism rendering since my target is to do humorous cartoon-shorts... However It's funny how NPR is complicated compared to the "realistic" approach of materials settings XD

what would you like to see in her catoon short? for now I 'm just planning to animate Mink performing her "ending danse", but She can do funny other things too ( the model have many expressions patterns available

I love her dance, but if you had her flying or roasting a kebab with her fire breath I think that it would look great.

Your Kebap idea actually gave me a good story concept:
in first scene Mink is chasing odd creatures for BBQ ( random RPG monsters or cute Pokémons), later, while she is roasting them for her meal, someone suddently tap on her shoulder... Mink looks behind : nobody. but when she turns-back all the food was taken by... Lina Inverse! (curently busy to eat everything in her habitual loudy fashion )
Mink yells out at Lina ( who is shalowing the last plates of food while stand-up calmly with a burp ) so Lina and Mink start to fight in a funny way ( this cause huge damages all arround them ) at a point, Lina invoke a Dragon Slave while Mink launches her "Dragon Punch" which causes massive explosion/ black hole... at the end Lina and Mink eventualy become friends ... even if they almost destroyed the world for a stupid reason XD

In fact making an animation based on the Dragon Half ending is a really old project... first I wanted to do it with Flash but I lost my interest for this software (wich is really complicated and frustrating for animating stuffs) so I abandoned this animation .. until few weeks ago when I decided to resume my learning of Blender ^^
I really enjoyed this manga and I love Mink... she is so funny and optimistic, She definitly deserves more fanarts!
I hope to not disapoint her fans with this ittle animation
