Description
OOOH GOD WHY???? I know, I know, I made a mistake, the Passenger Pigeon only became extinct on 1914!!!!I was reading about this pidgeon and I had mistaken the date of the extinction with the date that the Roman Catholic bishop of Quebec excommunicated them!
Some animals, murdered until the last one by us in the last centuries...
From left to right: Tasmanian Tiger, Dodo bird, Quagga, Passenger Pigeon, Great Auk, Baiji River Dolphin, Golden Toad, Blue Buck, Kawekaweau

Amazing animals...and we'll never get to see them again. T-T
Maybe science will be able to resurrect some of them. Hopefully. My favorites on this list are the dodo and quagga.

Here's one: Megaladapis, the giant lemur. Β It was about 4.5 feet in head-body length, 2.5 feet high at the shoulders, and weighed 150 pounds. Β It and other large lemurs disappeared from Madagascar because of hunting and habitat destruction, possibly no later than 1500 AD. Β

Poor animalsΒ Β
They didn't deserve such a sad and unfair destiny, they were beautiful.
Why we have to do this?!?!?!

Actually, I've heard there's a program to breed back the quagga. (It was very closely related to zebras, enough so that it was more of aΒ separateΒ breed than separate species.)

It disgusts me that humans can hunt an animal to extinction, and we're supposed to be the superior species puh! Β

You didn't bother with the Pleistocene and early Holocene species we wiped out?
Those are far better candidates than many of these.
