Description ...Sorry, senator. I couldn't help it

So, apparently something is wrong with the "copy" function on our printer/scanner/copier/card reader, but not the "print" function. When I tried my usual method of copying the finished lineart, the whole thing was broken up and jagged, most noticeably Satoko's face and shoulder. So I spent about 45 minutes cleaning nozzle heads, realigning print spouts, and all those other nasty things you do to your copier when it's not working, all to no avail. So, as a last resort, I scanned it and then printed it. It still looks pretty bad, but it's better than the copying, trust me.
...I think I'm gonna redo this. There are parts that I like (Mion, Hanyuu, Satoko, Rena) and parts that I really don't like (Shion, Rika, Keiichi's legs and bat).
This picture was done over the course of several days--I did the gestural on Tuesday, before math class, finished the line art on Wednesday, before Japanese, then that evening scanned it, and tried inking it in The GIMP (Basically, my kneaded eraser died, so I couldn't get the line art to a position in which I'd feel comfortable inking it, but I didn't want to stop working on it).
I did Rena and half of Satoko before I gave up. Especially knowing that I really need a pressure-sensitive tablet for this sort of thing (Actually, ~Yuuei said he might be willing to sell my his Graphire tablet for $100--Approximately one third what he payed for it, and it's in great condition). So then I started doing the line art in Inkscape (Earlier today), which isn't as frustrating or hard as the GIMP, just dead boring. I did about half of Rena's face before getting bored, and, having bought more kneaded erasers at Utrecht on my way back from piano, finishing the line art. Then I remembered that I really, really, need a new .05 or .03 Copic Multiliner (I have two sets, and of those two sets, the .03s, .05s, and .1s are all dying or dead). Well shoot.
However, because its ink flow was irregular, I could simply use my .05 like a pencil. So I did. But it made the line art kind of rough. Aaaaargh. Well, too bad.
So then I went through all that trouble with the printer in order to transport the line art to good marker paper (I'm sorry, but I am not tracing this thing), I colored it. And...
YES! I finally found a good color for Hanyuu's hair. Which I found by accidentally using it to color in Satoko's shorts. Also, about two minutes after coloring Rika and Satoko's eyes, I realized I should have used Mulberry, not Raspberry.
Oh, yeah. That is one hardcore pink shirt Satoko is wearing. Seriously. And Hanyuu's face is scaring me.

About Mion's crazy "if I grin any wider the top of my head will fall off" expression... That's her "I'm kicking butt with Kei-chan!" face. Not to be confused with her "I'm kicking Kei-chan's butt!" face. (It's an easy mistake to make). I think Keiichi's expression is his "I'm kicking butt with a whole bunch of girls wearing wet clothes!" face. ("What's wrong with men being perverts? Accept it!" "K!") Oh yeah! The other day, I learned the "Kei" that Keiichi spells his name with (It means "jewel"), and also the "Kei" that he should spell it with (It means "fragrance", and is about ten times as complicated as the one he uses). I know that Rena's real name is Reina, and she spells "Rena" in katakana. I also know that Satoshi, Mion, I think Shion, and maybe Satoko and/or Rika use the wrong characters to spell their names. Tomitake uses katakana for his first name. Akasaka uses the verb character "Mamoru" (To protect) for his name, and I'm pretty sure there's a name character of the same meaning and reading. I'm not sure about Ooishi (He uses Age(I think)-Human, neither of which are name characters), Kasai (He uses (Zodiac)Dragon-Messenger, the former of which is a name character, the second of which isn't), and Akane (She uses some character which I seriously cannot remember. Anyway, it's "grass" over "west"). I'm pretty sure Chie-sensei (Knowledge-fortune) uses the wrong characters, but I think Irie-sensei (Capital-Seashell) uses the right ones. Takano uses the characters "Three-Four", and not only is that wrong, I don't think it's a name at all. We never learn Okonogi and Kuma-chan's first names, so I don't know about them. Tenkousei-chan (The girl with the green pigtails, and the kitchen knife. In one of the manga-only story lines. I can never remember her name, because...) might be using the right characters, but I don't think she is, because the reading she uses for them is completely different from what I know (Which is why I can never remember her name). Takano's mentor also uses numeral characters, and while I think he might have a real name, it's not spelled that way. Hanyuu... Isn't a name, and the readings are somewhat mashed up ("Wings" plus "Enter"--"Wings" is pronounced "Hane" and "Enter" is pronounced "Yuu", and mashing of readings isn't uncommon per se, but it's usually the on (Chinese) reading, rather than the kun (Japanese) reading, like this is). I can't remember what characters Teppei uses for his name. Rina uses katakana, I think, but that's because it's a stage name. I can't remember her real name, and I don't think it showed up in the credits.
Anyway, I need to go over Wikipedia's list of the characters with a dictionary and PopJisyo. I imagine I'll find some interesting stuff...

Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni belongs to 07th Expansion.

Edit:
Ahaha, see that line of brightness next to Rena's head? That's from when ~Shikamarvin opened the scanner for a second while it was scanning. I'll rescan it later, but no worries XD

Also, technically, Shion should be off sniping Yamainu with Kasai, but it would be unfair to leave her out, don't you think?

I really like the simplicity of your artstyle. It just feels so much more genuine in a way.

Cute picture... but oh my god, your artist comments were TL;DR. I'm sorry.

Thanks--I really like the way that with markers, I can have really, really simple lineart, and it works.

Haha, yeah--If there's anything really important in one of my descriptions, it'll be at the top. Once I get into the discussion of obscure Japanese characters and their usages, anyone who isn't a total kanji-nerd has every right to skip it
