Seriously, the villains of this show kept trying to kill the five kids that Captain Planet and Gaia loved as their own. Brilliant move there.

Seriously, if the mullet is the worst thing about the character, he could put it in a ponytail or cut it so he has short hair. But then, he wouldn't be the 80's icon he is. Still, Ted Turner made a mockery of his eco-friendly creation via the Robot Chicken spoof anyway...

As an 80s child, I can tell you that the original show (Captain Planet and the Planeteers) came in the 80s. Reruns of the original continued into the 90s and even a smaller-scale series was made later in the decade (The All-New Adventures of Captain Planet).

Umm....not really. I recall it starting in 1990. It was due to the fact it literally just started just after the 80's ended and there are some things (like Linka being Soviet and the Cap's mullet) that are distinctively 80's but it's the second longest running 90's cartoon.
