I know one woman who thinks that "autistic children are useless at a mainstream School." As someone with autism, that comment is ignorant. I know plenty of autistic people who attended mainstream school and they turn out all right. But to make things ironic, this woman who hates people with disabilities work with people with disabilities.

..this is a long time after you posted that...but I have autism. Its not as bad as it seems...sometimes. My suggestions are, keep him away from big loud places, they might overstimulate him and cause violent behavior. Hire an aid, not just any aid. An aid that has experience with kids with autism. Treat him like you would any other kid...thats all we want...we dont understand why we get 'special treatment' just because we are different...called retarded because we are different...we just dont get it.

If she has any tips on potty training a 4 year old who refuses to go number 2 on the potty, that'd be super helpful at this time and any help for doctor appointments and less screaming at the dentist would be best <3 good news today though is Logan isn't sick according to doctor, but we're still having trouble determining why he's crying and covering his ears. Well, it started this morning. I was still in bed and my husband was in the shower and then I suddenly heard my son screaming and I went to comfort him. Thought it was a night terror until he kept rubbing his ear against me. So we rushed him to the pediatrician and they found nothing

I was once falsely diagnosed with autism, and even after that I still don't know as much about it as I'd like. Ignorance of the general public is a problem not just for the autistic, but for all those who have mental problems. People with PTSD are to embaressed to get treatment and suffer because of it.
