Chapter II - "Nightwing VS Alice"Three days pass by since Alice committed her first kill but it wasn't her last: what began as what seemed to be a random mugging gone wrong evolved into dozens of criminal bodies turning up across Gotham City. Alice was on a mission and it seemed like nothing could stop her...
Batman and Nightwing step onto a yacht in Gotham Harbor at around 10PM, Nightwing gasping at the sight of at least twenty bodies covered in bloody tarps while Batman glared with hidden rage as this was everything he detested. Commissioner James Gordon waves down the two vigilantes who quickly make their way over, making sure not to contaminate anything of the crime scene,
"She's getting good." Gordon stated as he held up a tarp reveal a bloody body of an older Asian man, "She tailed the Golden Dragon Clan back to it's leadership." Batman clenched his fists at his sides,
"And she slaughtered them all." Batman growled as Nightwing held his arm over his own mouth, clearly disgusted by the scene, asking them both,
"Who exactly is SHE, anyway?" Gordon fixed his glasses,
"I was hoping you two could tell me. None of my guys can properly get a match of her fingerprints." Batman's cowl lenses light up red, allowing him to scan womanly finger prints upon the wall,
"I have access to every record and database on the planet...and I have no match." Nightwing coughed lightly after hearing Batman's comment,
"So we're dealing with a ghost." Nightwing spoke as Gordon held up his smartphone,
"You're not too far off, kid." The article talks about the killer with the headline 'SIREN OF THE NIGHT DISPATCHES JUSTICE', "She calls herself Alice. No last name, just Alice. She's already gained a following." Nightwing couldn't help but cock an eyebrow,
"How is she gaining a following? She's murdering people." Nightwing would get his answer when Gordon spoke up,
"Not just people. Every victim has been a criminal, mob boss, drug dealer, bad people but not a single innocent." Batman would then quickly add his piece,
"It doesn't matter. Murder is still murder. These people deserved fair trial. This isn't justice..." That's when a police officer spoke up as he made his way off the yacht,
"Speak for yaself, Bat. We've been chasing the Gold Dragons for over a year now. You ask me, she did us a favor." This was met with a disappointing sigh from Gordon,
"Look, we need to find her before she becomes a public figure. Any ideas where she might hit next?" Batman would ponder this question,
"She's hunting criminals, she's been making her way up the food chain: first it was simple purse snatchers and rapists, now she's taking down crime syndicates." Nightwing followed this up,
"She can't be stupid enough to go after Dent or Joker, they're at the top. We need someone mid-grade...like the Blackgaters Gang! My snitch told me about a meeting tomorrow night." Batman nodded then looked to his apprentice,
"It's a start. Send me the location and I'll meet you there." Batman would then grunt slightly, holding his forehead: both Gordon and Dick would notice this making Gordon speak up,
"You alright?" Batman shook it off with a growl,
"Fine. Just a headache." Batman would then make his way to the Batmobile, "Nightwing, continue your patrol. I'll handle the North sector." Nightwing would then give a sarcastic salute,
"Aye aye, Captain." He then looked to Gordon as Batman drove away, "Don't worry, Jimbo. We'll get her." His eyes were drawn to the smartphone once more, this time the article showing a blurry photo of the woman taken by a pedestrian: of course, Dick had to comment, "Hellooooo legs. Damn, why do the pretty ones always have to be crazy." Gordon just chuckled, shaking his head as Nightwing stepped to his motorcycle,
"I hear the crazy ones are the best in bed though." They share a laugh, Nightwing revs his engine then rides off into the night.
~
Other than the gore-y sight at the start, the rest of the night played out as usual: couple muggings and an attempt to rob a jewelry store. Pretty standard night for the Dark Bird of Gotham City but he did not have the same endless energy that Bruce seemed to have so once 5AM hit and the sky started getting brighter, Dick returned to his humble apartment loft in the Burnley District: an elevator bringing him right into the loft where he hid the motorcycle by pressing a button, changing it's appearance to look like your average stunt cycle. He would then go into a bedroom to open a hidden compartment in the wall and strip down to store his suit inside. Little does he know, a figure was watching him from the shadows,
"Lovely place you have here." The British voice caused Dick in just his shorts to quickly rearm himself with his batons then tosses one right at the figure who just simply catches the baton, making Dick's eyes grow wide before the figure stepped out from the shadows to reveal herself to be Alice, smirking lightly at the man. She tosses the baton onto the bed, "It's a shame that you live alone, Mr. Grayson...or should I call you Nightwing?" With a wink from Alice, Nightwing scowls to grab a pair of handcuffs from his arsenal making Alice chuckle, "I don't do bondage, hun." Nightwing smirked a bit, liking that she had more of a sense of humor than most criminals,
"You got a lot of nerve coming here, lady. I can have you arrested."
"And expose yourself as Dick Grayson? Not likely, dear." She lied down on the bed, posing herself for him,
"What do you want from me?" Grayson asked, opening one cuff ready to use it on her,
"Just trying to show I'm not a bad girl here, Dickie."
"You've killed over forty people in three days." Alice would just shrug,
"Scumbags. Rapists. Murderers. It's not like the world will miss them."
"That's not the point. Killing is wrong! You have to stop this, Alice. Before it's too late." Alice chuckled lightly,
"So sweet that you care." She tried to caress his face only for him to grab her by the wrist,
"I care that someone who is clearly as skilled as you will throw their life away for something that will not end well. Trust me." Alice smiled, stepping up to Nightwing, leaning against him in a seductive manner as he continued to hold her wrist,
"Darling...never grab a girl like that." She would then knee him right in the gut, making his grip loosen for her to pull it out and use her now free hand to punch him in the face, "I didn't want to do that Grayson...but I'm not one to be taken advantage of." As Dick dropped to his knees, Alice took two steps only to feel a grip on her ankle: she glanced back to see Dick holding on with a smirk,
"My turn, Alice." Dick smirked as he tugged then sweep kicked only for Alice to dodge with a back flip, pulling herself out of his hand. She smirked, Dick charging up to tackle her to the floor in a very suggestive position,
"Sorry." She forced themselves to roll so she was on top, "I'm more of a top girl." She tried to punch him in the face but he quickly caught her fist making her grin, "I can help you stop Dent." She leaned in, giving him a kiss, "Let me know if you change your mind, darling." Dick then grabbed her soft ass through the fishnet leggings to toss her off while he flipped himself onto his feet. He turned around only to see she had vanished without a trace,
"Shit..." He commented.
~
The next night, Dick grappled to a rooftop as Nightwing where Batman was perched, eyeing a group of men through some windows,
"You're late." Batman commented as Nightwing perched beside his old mentor,
"Take it easy, old timer. I'm here, aren't I?" There was a silence, "Nothing yet?"
"No. The Blackgaters are still waiting for their boss." Nightwing would not in response,
"Victor Valeska. He'll be here." Nightwing looked in all directions, looking for something or someone,
"How was your patrol last night? Anything on Alice?" Nightwing froze, unsure how to respond,
"...Nope. Nothing to report. Just a typical night in Gotham City." This response earned a glare from the Dark Knight before he continued looking at the Blackgaters. Batman would then point out two armed criminals in the front entrance of the building, "Those two, if Alice is smart she'll avoid them and come in through the top." Nightwing seemed a little distracted,
"R-Right...sounds logical." He cleared his throat, earning a cocked eyebrow from Batman who was about to say something when he heard Alfred's voice over the comlink,
"Apologies for the disturbance, sirs but it would appear that Anarky has created a scene at city hall. Bombs are involved." Batman scowled,
"Dammit." Nightwing would then offer,
"You go ahead, Bruce. I'll keep an eye on these asshats. I'll let you know if Alice shows up." Batman would then nod and grapple off, leaving Nightwing alone with the stakeout.
~
An hour would pass by and Dick found himself bored as he watched the Blackgaters continue to sit and chat in a single room. Dick would mock himself, "You go ahead, Bruce, I'll just sit here and do nothing while you face off with the more interesting villain. Ugh..."
Meanwhile, the two bodyguards are surprised by the appearance of a woman making her way down the sidewalk,
"Heeey, baby. Why don't you bring those legs over here?" The fishnet leggings and high heels keep their attention downward while Dick shot up with intrigue when he heard the cat calls, he definitely recognized those legs. The woman approached, entering the light: it was indeed Alice who stood between the two men with a smirk on their face,
"You boys want to have fun? Good..." In a fraction of a second, both of their heads were impaled by knives she drew from her holsters, "Cause so do I." The two men dropped down dead,
"SHIT!" Dick yelled out, catching Alice's attention. She waved kindly then blew him a kiss before rushing inside, "Batman! Nightwing to Batman! Alice is here! She just killed two...I'm going in." Dick fired his grapnel into the side of the building then swung across, using the momentum to leap through the window and into the room with the Blackgaters who sprang up from their seats,
"It's Nightbug!" Dick groaned,
"It's NightWING." They aimed their pistols and rifles, "Oh shit!" He ducked behind a counter for some cover as they opened fire, "Hey, I'm on your side! You're all in danger!" Seconds later, the door was kicked open and Dick could deduce who it was,
"Ello, boys. Where is Valeska?" Asked a familiar British voice,
"Kill her!" She chuckled,
"Good, more reason for me to enjoy this." Nightwing caught glimpse of her dashing forward to slice open one thug's throat,
"NO!" Nightwing roared as he leaped up, grappling onto one thug's gun, he tugged and knocked the knife out of her hand, forcing her to get behind the same counter,
"I want to hate you right now, darling!" Nightwing groaned,
"You psycho bitch!" One thug scowled, stomped over to a crate,
"I got this boys!" The man pulled out a massive minigun which began to rev up, Dick would recognize that sound so he grabbed Alice by her hand and pulled out as the bullets started flying, the two barely managing to avoid the gunfire and Dick held her close to leap out through the window and clumsily grapple, making them crash to the ground: alive but they felt the pain,
"Is it always this fun with you?" Alice questioned, breathing heavily with a grin while Dick couldn't help but laugh,
"You should see my Friday nights." Dick looked up to see the minigunner aiming down at them, "Oh, come on!" Dick exclaimed, once against dragging Alice along as he ran over to the street, pressing a button his belt which made the Nightcycle ride up to them remotely, "Get on!" Nightwing climbed onto the bike, revving the engine as Alice climbed on as well, holding onto his waist from behind as they rode off at at full speed, "I can't believe I'm doing this!"
As they rode, two cars were on approach, getting fast and faster: bullets whizzed by Dick's head or ricocheted off the Nightcycle as Alice couldn't help but comment,
"You know, none of this would be happening if you didn't get involved." Nightwing lowered his head for a second in frustration,
"Lady, I will kick your sweet ass off this bike if you don't shut up." She rolled her eyes then re-positioned herself on the bike to be crouched down, "What are you doing?"
"Getting them off your back." She grinned then leaped off the bike landing on the hood of one car, "Ello there!" Using her high heeled boot, she kicked the windshield in as Dick scrambled, pulls back beside the vehicle,
"Alice! Stop!" Alice just winked at Nightwing,
"Might want to move, darling!" Dick cocked an eyebrow as Alice jerked the steering wheel, making the vehicle sway to the side. Dick barely managed to dodge the vehicle,
"JESUS! You're insane!" Alice leaped back onto the bike as the two vehicles collided, making them flip and roll about, Dick saw this as Alice wrapped her arms around his waist, "...Okay, not gonna lie. That was pretty cool." They rode off while Alice laid her head on his back with a bright smile.
~
After making at least a mile of distance, Dick parked the Nightcycle into a dark alleyway where he stepped off, breathing heavily with anger and frustration, "Batman. Batman. Do you read? Comms are down...dammit." He glanced over to see Alice leaning against the wall smiling at him, "Don't think I'm letting you off the hook, lady. I'm gonna call Gordon and have you picked up."
"Okay then forget about that tip about Two-Face, I could have probably helped you end his whole operation." Dick was so close to tapping his communicator to call Gordon, he wanted to but...something kept him from doing so,
"UGH! You crafty little minx..." Alice would step up to Nightwing, placing a hand on his cheek,
"You can't deny it, Dickie. There's a spark between us...I'm just the only one with the balls to admit it." She leaned in to kiss him on the cheek, "Meet me at the Gotham Shipping Yard tomorrow night. Leave your Bat-Buddy behind. He would just get in the way..." Alice winked then stepped off, making her way down the alley as Dick watched with confusion and conflict,
"Alice..." She looked back to him, "If we do this, no killing." There was a silence but in the end, she smiled,
"Fair enough." Dick glanced back to his communicator, turning it off, then he looked back down the alley,
"Hey Ali-" Once again, she vanished without a trace making him chuckle and shake his head, "Who the hell are you?" He whispered.
