Every day between now and Christmas I will be drawing a brand new picture, based off of Sonic the Hedgehog! I'll be picking 25 games, comics, cartoons, or whatever, and drawing something based on it in the run up to Christmas No, you can't suggest a picture, they're a surprise! Check back each day for a new door, they won't be uploaded at a set time, but they'll be there

Comic
Sonic the Comic

Sonic the Comic, often abbreviated to STC, was a UK publication, that was run by Fleetway/Egmont from 1993 to 2002. It started with stand alone stories from not only Sonic, but also other SEGA games; Ecco, Streets of Rage, Golden Axe, Wonder Boy, and so on. Eventually the other titles were dropped for Sonic stories only. After issue 8, the Sonic stories became much more of a consistent storyline, centered around Sonic and his friends battling Robotnik.

Super Sonic is probably the most well known character in the comic to fans outside it; a psychotic, dangerous, and cunning demon that posed a threat to even Sonic's friends, no one wanted him to show up. At first he was relatively easy to control, but as the comic went on, he became much more dangerous. Until issue 100, where he lost his powers in an electromagnetic pulse he caused. There on he went to be friends with a cat called Ebony and her friend, Pyjamas, and his stories were occasionally mentioned in the Sonic's World section.

There were other characters, of course though. Metal Sonic became a villian in his own right, a whole brotherhood of them being built and rebelling against Robotnik, who, it turns out, installed the self destruct switches in them. They changed time to remove those switches by removing Robotnik. They still existed because Grimer built them. Sonic is forced to create Robotnik in order to destroy the robots. Poor guy

There were other regular animal friends who worked with Sonic; Shortfuse was a squirrel trapped in indestructible armour, until an alien race gave him a program to open it whenever he wanted. Tekno was a canary and it was often implied that her and Shortfuse got along well, she used to work for Robotnik and now hangs around with Amy Rose more often. Ebony was a magician and the only person to trust Super Sonic, and is the one who merges Super Sonic and Sonic back together at the end of the Sonic Adventure adaptation. Pyjamas is Ebony's friend anda pshychic, and is the one who helps to restore Super's memory, though she isn't so willing to trust him. There are a lot more, but these ones appeared a lot.

In issue 133 the comic began reprinting old strips, eventually turning completely into reprints from issue 185 to 223, where the series was finally put out of production. However, the fanbase still hangs on and you can visit the club I run on DA here

Fans began continuation on the storyline in Sonic the Comic- Online from 2003, and former writers and artists of the original STC have supported it and contributed to it, with Nigel Kitching often to be seen in the forums.
