Buddhist Monkey (whose real name is still a mystery) has been one of the most complicated characters to re-write in this new edition, since we've had to investigate more to understand him better, and although his intoductory chapter will keep him limited by the old decisions,  I think I feel much more satisfied with him this time (no mention I can draw monkeys much better ). Originally, Master Monkey (which is how we're going to call him in Sweet Lullaby) had a certain condescending air that bothered me quite a bit when I had to read his dialogues again, he was very sermonizing and not very impartial at certain points, leaving us quite clear that in order to correctly write to a wise character, the writer itself must be so too, at least to a certain extent.

Despite of all we have improved since then, and how remarkably easier writing has become, much of what you see here relies on projection: What would I do if I was in the place of a certain character? What would I say if I was feeling as overwhelmed as Flaky, and in turn, what would I say to comfort Flaky without making her feel pressured, while at the same time, retaining the intention of the orignal.

It's clear that there are still lots to be learned, but seen that way, I think it was actually beneficial for the comic to let it wait for a while.

I don't know what he was like or how he appeared before, but I think you've done a great job of him now. Their dialogue is so heartwarming and sounds like it came from a wise, gentle person instead of what you described before.

Thank you very much, I'm very glad you think so It was never intentional to make him like that before, but we didn't have enough skills to write him as we wanted. Hopefully we can do a better job at it this time.

Monkeys aren’t my favorite animal to draw because of how uncomfortably human-like they are but you managed to adapt him in your style really well. I always adore that!

I remember there’re lots of dialogue later in the chapter. Curious to see the changes

Oh yeah, I can definitely relate to that . I think monkeys are getting easier for me to draw by actually embracing the more human-like features of primates, while also keeping what makes their real counterparts special. On Master Monkey's case, being kind of a chibi does simplify things a lot, so he's basically like drawing a furry child with a tail and feet that are more akin to hands, rather than human feet. He's still very limited to the old version on this page, but I'm also very curious to see how will he look like drawn from 0 on the next chapter.

As for the dialogue, I'm actually very happy with the changes in that aspect too, because those dialogues were so hard for me to read after ten years XDDD; Too many words for so little information that wasn't even all that clear for the creators on the first place, so yeah, a new revision was pretty much needed for this project, a little too ambitious for us at the time.

Thank you very much for your comment, Coro, I'm very happy to have you as a reader >w<

So you intend to use your present style for the newer chapters. Can't wait to see!
I saw the latest page, I think there's some very elegant choice for the wording. I love it so far

Nah, thank YOU for making this <33

I was going to write a much longer comment because relatability is such a major subject in this scene (for me it is), but I just want to say that I think that's an amazing approach for dialogue, because it comes from the heart and soul, and it's genuine.

This is purely coincidental, but Flaky's red and Master Monkey's yellow bring so much warmth into this scene, like sunshine or a warm fireplace...

I think I can actually relate to both characters in this scene. I've learned a lot from my insecurities in order not let them affect me anymore (which isn't always the case, but one can't deny I've gotten a lot better at this) while also trying to help others in this kinds of situations. At least for me, it's very important to be genuine as possible when it comes to art, and narrative can only help make that even clearer

And it is a coincidence indeed, but I still enjoy the warmth of their colors toghether, specially on this scene. Thank you for your comment, buddy <3
