You guys will probably hate me for this but: I donβt understand the obsession with mlp. I mean, the intended audience is children (Boy I am gonna get hate for saying that) If someone could explain the appeal to me thatβd be awesome.Β

well, i, for one, dont understand the appeal of big asses on anime characters.

It's a show for little kids, but... hm, how to explain this, it's a show that wants to teach. Like, the episodes aren't about "today our ponies will dive into the ocean and find a hidden pirate treasure and look fabulous with the gems" like it might happen in other shows, it's more about facing problems that feel relatable because they are about things like envy or lack of teamwork and such, and there's always a moral in the end. But it still looks cute and happy and colourful and has magic and whatsoever, also there's a large and nice community, so you already have other people who share your passion (something that might be difficult if you, for example, decide that you are now a fan of Barbie)

The first episode of the first season are on YT and a pretty good summary of what MLP is about (better, the first two episodes, since it's a double-episode), doesn't take long to watch, doesn't require background knowledge and is better than any explanation.
