well if it wasn't normal water then why is johnny swimming in it? I mean if they were swimming in say diluted acid (or something) it may not hurt the monsters, but Johnny would feel pain or at least some discomfort.

Ah ok, but it still draws to my attention about how Mavis and Dracula can swim in it. Because the classic vampire myth/legend is that vampires can't cross large bodies of water, (running or not)

If vampires can have bright scales on their skin when the sun hits them...why dont have vampires that can touch water (or even have sons)?

I'm talking about the original vampire myths (not Twifart) there myth is that vampires can't cross large bodies of running water (I assume this includes swimming) unless they're in a coffin filled with the soil of their birth place. As for vampires having children, I recall that only a certain type/region of folklore where vampires can actually sire/father biological children.
