Description
A painting I finished several days ago between work on other stuff, for the BZPRPG on BZPower, requested by its GM.The game is based around an alternative timeline in which the first Toa failed to defeat Makuta and fell into darkness. For over a hundred years, there was no sign of hope for the island, until a new prophecy came into effect. A group of chosen Matoran were turned into Toa after a long periless quest to retrieve the essence-stones of the first Toa. These new Toa Maru are destined to take up the mantle of responsibility and defend Mata-Nui against the Makuta and eventually defeat him.
I worked pretty fast on this, no more than 2-3 hours on each character for colour and shading, so there are a few mistakes here and there, but the schedule was tight. Loved to try out something new for the sky.

One thing i never got about the bionicle series was how much they favored the fire toa. I personally would have thought they would make them more like equals, but each specializing in a specific part of the team. The best way I could describe it would be like in avatar where Aang was the transport of the team, Sokka the navigator and planner, Katara, the support and toph as the muscle. None of them were really the leader or truly better than each other. However in bionicle, the fire guy leads, makes a mask of time, and the golden armor from the glatorian ones is meant more for the fire glatorian too.

That's where one must remember that this was a story backing up a series of toys. And, unfortunate as it may be from a narrative standpoint sometimes, the kids mostly loved the red guy.Β

Yep! I'm certainly getting there.Β The hardest part really is the Bionicle fanbase is quite different from the others I've been involved with in the past.Β Most of my friends and watchers have never even heard of Bionicle.Β XDΒ Their loss.Β ;D

Basically it's collaborative storytelling. GM's give a setting, the players throw in their characters and then start writing their characters stories and start interacting.Β

The Onu-Toa looks like he has a Hero Factory visor, the Le-Toa has a Kakama, and all of the rest i feel like I should know... Poo. Anyway, Excellent work, I can see how they all have very similar armor, though they have their own unique fit and style to it all. The background looks very impressive too. I don't see how I could ever devote that much time to something.

Thanks! The Kanohi they wear are all original designs. From left to right, they are: The mask of weaknesses, mask of tracing, mask of jumping, mask of stories, mask of alchemy and the mask of intent. The names don't sound very exciting, but their powers in action certainly are.

Not exactly. The mask of stories allows the user to bring fiction and legends to life. The mask of intent is indeed cool. The user can see if somebody is lying, going to attack, trying to help via coloured auras.

Oh dang, that is cool. A while ago I thought of a Mask of Omnification. It divides objects into their main components, the larger the object or the more you separate it, the more power is required.

The BZPRPG is actually more enjoyable for me when I just sit back and let the few important plots run their course. Still cry BS from the sidelines at times, so it's not all good.
But moments like this makes me enjoy it still. Fantastic work as usual; it really brings out the characters. I like your blend of sleek armor and the good old BIONICLE feel, and that background is just stunning.
