Were it that I lived in another age
Another era with a gentler outlook
Perhaps it is not another age than I long for
But another existence
For such a shame it is that I yearn
For something that cannot possibly exist
Except for perhaps in the mists of my mind
I am but a soul searching
For somewhere to belong
For many long years have I drifted
Seeking that which has eluded me
A peace that will settle my soul
A connection that is strong and everlasting
A reason for my being
To have a purpose worth living for
A purpose worth dying for
I feel the reasons that I came into this existence
Are no longer clear to me
But are now shrouded in a veil
And only in death will they once again be revealed
