Mhh in my opinin (or own world) they grow fast in the beginning and than slower (they need around 88 years to be an adult) c:

I have always thought that I am a dragon in my own world, but then I realize how I ache to have a companion as loyal and smart and magniflourious as a dragon, my heart aches for more than just a human......

Wonder why I never imagined dragons getting sick...
Basically, the Dovahkiin is the only person who can kill a dragon in the Elder Scrolls universe by somehow consuming their souls and killing them permanently. It's kind of cool-looking.

Yay, thatΒ΄s right, if I could really have a Dragon or two as Pets I would choose my lovley Sharista(little withe Runedragon) and her Mate Sephiriel(an enourmous large, blue Saphirewaterdragon).
