Description
The Fairy and her familiar are summoned to the circle by an unseen Mage. Who knows what they're there for but the scenery is too much for them to refuse...************************************************

Dog is Kamea from my own stock (the original picture was kinda fuzzy so I didn't submit it. It works really well for this one though).
The background is two pictures, one purchased from Renderosity and the other [link]

Busy, I've been working on my own website which I can't afford my own name to but whatever at least I have something, and then I was working on a few other art projects and now I still have to figure out this css thing for the new journal skin I'm going to start using in 2010, I'm customizing it and I've been running into some problems so I'm gonna have to figure this out somehow, plus I need to do a header for it.. so as you can see I'm very busy. I have a few ideas for some new artworks so hopefully 2010 will be a better year than this one.

Honestly, I'm prepping for my brother (who never even dated)'s wedding in January. I get 3 new nieces out of the deal so I'm stoked. I've been teaching a couple of friends some things. I'm going to be trying to get back into school at the very least.. I've been learning steam punk. I've been creating steam punk stuff.. *thinks*
I have so much going on that half the time I am wishing for a vacation and the other time I'm wishing I had more time in a day.
I can't WAIT till next year, I have a good feeling about it.

Okay, since you requested that I do this I'm gonna do it lol.
Look at the picture carefully and you'll notice that the models look as if they are put onto an already made background.. as if how they are positioned doesn't match with the background. If you wanted to make it look more real, you should've tried to see where the sun was and then did a bit of a shadow so it looks as if they really are on the ground instead of looking as if they are pasted on there.
Another thing is that the models look way too blurred somehow and their edges are too soft.. the dog actually looks too blurred compared to the female model.
I'm not sure how to exactly explain all of it ..it would be easier if I had all the stock and brushes and then maybe do a tutorial for you on what you could've done.. maybe it would help you understand it better lol.. cause other tutorials are made by another person's mind but maybe if i made a tutorial using your image, you would understand better on how to advance in your creativity. So up to you. .. I hope this helped some though lol..

How do you do shadows exactly? That's one thing I have yet to learn.
Yeah the dog thing was bugging me, I couldn't find a less blurry picture and he doesn't pose for the camera very easily.

Well for shadows and stuff i take the burn tool and either use shadows or highlight and then add the darkness to where the shadows should be put. But you have to set the number of how dark you want it because if it's way too dark then it won't look real, so just experiment with it a little.

no i just do it without selecting what area i want to give a shadow.. i just put it so that it really matches with the model.

I like this piece a lot. I really like your use of circles in this and the angel summons one I faved earlier, are these brushes? And what are brushes exactly? I think I'd like to do a circle or two in my green man painting.

[link] has some circle brushes, I used those in the Angel one. The one in this image was a background I purchased off of renderosity, (I can't remember from whom but it was 5$ for the magic backgrounds).
Brushes are tools in photoshop that you literally point and click with. That creates the entire effect (one click, very useful!)

This weekend has been interesting. We went hiking Tuesday, came back to the same spot we were just at Tuesday (over the weekend) and it was smoldering/on fire in some places. *sigh*
Forest fire season, not sure if they did it on purpose or if it was an accidental fire. There wasn't any information. We ended up hiking elsewhere as a result. My legs are still cramping but it was a LOT of fun.

I usually tell people how amazing their work is once they give me the link to the work that my stock is in but I can't say anything for you at the moment cause it's a contest piece and I'm the judge so I have to be.. silent about my opinion lol hope you don't mind. But good luck

sometimes it's not about if you're good enough, but how much fun you have. In the end you don't remember the contest, only the artwork you've done. So these contests are only practice for you to get better.
