Description
Determined to hide her blush, Lily Evans readjusted her book bag on her shoulder. Only a few students—and no professors, thank God—scattered the hallways before the next lecture, but the budding romance rumors were rampant already. How quaint, the head boy and girl together, she mused.Down the hall, James Potter gave a pleading smile to his friend Sirius, who graciously backed away and took a different route to class. “You owe me!” he called back.
James ignored him and approached Lily, trying his best not to grin like a fool.
“Evans.”
“ Potter.”
He ran a shaking hand through his dark hair. “So, I uh…have a Quidditch game tonight.”
Lily looked away. “I really should study. Slughorn’s exam is tomorrow.”
“You don’t need to study,” James urged a bit too enthusiastically. “I mean, we all know you’ll have the top marks in the class.”
I could get used to flattery, the head girl thought, desperately trying to conceal her smile. Still, he was making an effort.
Lily met James’ bespectacled gaze. Why had she never taken the time to notice his eyes earlier? They were deep hazel, framed by thick black lashes.
The way that James looked at her now…she felt the heat rise in her cheeks and stomach all over again.
Without preamble, Lily did something she never thought she could do. She reached forward and touched the head boy’s Griffindor tie. She did not regret the action immediately. She liked the feel the silk beneath her fingers, and beneath that, the radiating heat of James’ skin.
Hr raised a hand to her cheek, just barely brushing it. Her heart pounded.
“James, I…” Lily paused. It was the first time she had ever called him by his given name. She could barely breathe. He leaned in towards her. Lily found herself entrapped by his warmth and whatever unknowns lay in his kiss.
Then, at the last moment, she turned her head. Someone else was there. Pulling away from James, she mumbled something about being late to class. Ignoring his dumbfounded expression, she walked hurriedly toward the nearest exit, just in time to see swirling black robes disappear around the corner.
Looked down, Lily noticed the glittering rose smashed underneath her shoe.
Severus.

It amazes me how the simple looking things end up being so complex. I haven't really done lineart with the exception of random sketches, and it was nearly as difficult as any other painting or drawing I've worked on. Not that this is really any great accomplishment, but I enjoyed the experiment. I had this idea in my head for the longest time. Poor Severus. The guy can't catch a break.
