While Branwen was on her way to Socorro, Muriel flew towards the area, where FTH agents were spotted. Swiftly making their way through the twisting maze of branches, they covered the distance with ease. So far the forest was clear, no unusual presence, no spooked animals or signs of human activity - it felt eerily serene in contrast to the rising unrest within Muriel's soul.

Since leaving the burrow Muriel's mind was fixated on FTH. And to think that it all started so well, they thought, the early days of the first humans in these lands were promising, the native undead were always clear on this part, these new people positioned themselves as peaceful explorers.

And after the years of what seemed to be a relationship of mutual understanding, it was over, swiftly, in a single event. FTH invited a group of undead for what they described as a knowledge exchange. How it went remains a mystery to this day as none of the natives who went there returned afterwards. The most ancient inhabitants of Soulscape shed some light on the matter: they felt how their friends' souls had departed this world.

Since then FTH became ruthless in their actions towards the undead, all communications between the sides were severed and no further dialog could be initiated. So called "hunting groups" were formed, instructed to capture any undead they could find. Avoidance became the most prominent survival strategy of the Soulscape inhabitants.

While the active aggression of FTH was dwindling over time, the presence of humans was steadily growing. Many towns sprouted around the land, welcoming new inhabitants. These settlers were the first to use the term undead to describe the creatures of Soulscape, who later began using the word themselves.

Were FTH afraid that the undead wouldn't let their people settle? Doubtful, the undead were never opposed to the new neighbours. Maybe the firm discovered something dangerous about the undead? If so, why not talk it through? Muriel's thoughts were full of questions lacking definitive answers.

A sight of a flashlight piercing the darkness ahead stopped Muriel's contemplation and the bird-like being silently landed on the top of the nearest tree. Almost completely motionless, Muriel observed their surroundings, looking for the source of light.
